The Oberoi Vanyavilas Wildlife Resort, Ranthambhore

Best experience ever!

I absolutely loved this hotel. It manages to combine feelings of intimacy, warmth and professionalism in a way that only great GM's and their teams can achieve. I'm late writing this review but Ratna Malhotra, the GM, leaves such an everlasting impression that her welcome feels like it was only yesterday. And she has a wonderful team - I sense carefully curated to ensure all staff deliver a message that guests are special. The tented rooms are wonderful and the whole place is evocative of a previous age but with great modern functionality. a luxury, but in many ways boutique style hotel, with fantastic Ranthambore on the doorstep. And yes, we did (eventually) see tiger. All of the Oberoi hotels we stayed on during this trip were fantastic - Delhi (food), Agra (Taj Mahal views), Udaipur (grandeur) - and all consistently achieve very high levels of service and accommodation standards. But the Oberoi Vanyavilas was the stand-out and I would recommend it as a special place to visit.

To travel from Delhi is of great convenience. Now the roads, our world class only a small trench of 15 km when you reach Ranthambore is a little challenging. Once you reach the property, the staff makes you feel so special.

Wow, this hotel exceeded every expectation we had. We have travelled to a lot of 5 star hotels around the world, but the Oberoi Vanyavilas has put all the others to shame. From the delicious food offerings, the kindness of the staff (unmatched) and the quality of the safari tents, I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We cannot wait to return. Best, Katherine and Sam

The property is amazing , service was even better , GM Ms Ratna Malhotra knows the art of hospitality and making every trip to Vanya Vilas memorable and better each time I visit . Food was amazing , our room was extremely nice , even in monsoon torrential rains the entire property was amazingly maintained .

Have been a global trotter for the past decade and more and have been to a gazillions of properties. This would one of the top or almost the best so far. Ranging from the hotel staff to the aura to the food - everything was top notch! Definitely had a memorable time and strongly recommend everyone to give it a try if you can for yourself than anybody else. Explore the intricacies get immersed in the nature and more; explore every detail and nuances because that’s what it deserves! Huge shoutout to the room maintenance, reservation, restaurant and every other team. Could register few of the folks I had the opportunity to interact: Ratna ji - super friendly and welcoming, such a treat to interact with her; Atulji and Aditya ji from the dining. Also not to mention I was celebrating a special day at the resort and they made sure that is accounted for at every point in time! Have definitely raised my expectations above and beyond! Coming back with family and friends soon - I haven’t said that to any other hotel so far. So yeah kudos team! To Vanyavilas!

It was an awful and shockingly horrible experience as the room in which we were staying had insects crawling on the floor of the room as well as the washroom, especially not to forget the ants crawling on the bed next to our pillows. Furthermore, to add to the agony we had to tolerate the loud music being played every night due to the ongoing festivity. Would never recommend staying at this property.

Firstly, I think it is important to point out that this hotel is on the outskirts of the National Park. We booked assuming it was within the walls and were somewhat disappointed to have to travel twenty minutes to get into the National Park each day. That said - Wow! What a hotel. It will surpass your expectations in every way. Service levels are off the chart. You will feel looked after like you have never felt before and when you think they can do no more, they will come up with a little extra to surprise you! The resort is meticulously maintained. The swimming pool is beautiful. The resort is vast and the tents spaced out, so you feel a sense of privacy. The tents are spacious, well appointed with huge bathrooms. Sockets are all in the right place. There are curtains separating the bathroom area from the room and an all important door to the toilet itself for privacy. We made the mistake of assuming that we were on a safari package with the hotel (like you would on safari in Africa) but actually our travel agent had booked all safaris through an outside company. This was disappointing as their vehicles were not new or particularly comfortable and the guides only spoke broken English if any. Safari zones have to be booked in advance and the company that escorted us did not seem to have access to the best zones for sighting a tiger. We found that other guests had much more success in spotting a tiger in zones 1-4. Tigers are few and far between and when one is spotted there will be hoards of vans and jeeps surrounding them. We only spotted 2 tigers in 6 safaris. I would recommend that you book safari through the hotel to avoid our mistake. Whilst we found the tiger safari disappointing, the hotel more than made up for it. A highlight was going to see the hotels rescue elephant, Lakshmi. It resides in the staff quarters ten minutes down the road. We were accompanied by the hotel naturalist who was fantastic in explaining how elephants live and telling us Laksmi's story. My children learnt more in half an hour than they had all safari. We really enjoyed our stay here, as we did at all of the Oberoi hotels we visited on this trip.
