Ulasan Shanghai Railway Mansion Hotel

The Shanghai Railway Building is very close to both Metro exits 1 and 2. However, the soundproofing in the rooms is really poor. I could clearly hear loud noise from the room next door at midnight, and even had to call the front desk to deal with it. The next morning, before 6 AM, I could distinctly hear people showering and checking out from the adjacent room.

The hotel is super close to Shanghai Railway Station! Just take Metro Line 1, exit from Gate 1, and it's about a 5-minute walk according to navigation. Super easy to get to. The air conditioning was comfortable and the ventilation was good. You have to go downstairs to pick up your food deliveries, but there's also a delivery locker available. The photos were taken on the day I checked out.

Trip.com mentioned breakfast buffet but there was no buffet at all. See the picture. I had a bad experience getting the plate while I went to get a good buffet. They lied

It was a wonderful stay overall. We were able to check in early and our room was upgraded for free. The hotel is close to the train station, which makes travelling very convenient.

Because I had to take the train to and from Shanghai Station, I chose the Railway Hotel again. I stayed here last year, and everything was great. I arrived early in the morning and there were no rooms available, but the front desk kept urging housekeeping to clean a room for me, and I was able to check in before 10 AM. The only difference this time was that my room faced the train platforms instead of the station square. The bullet trains passing by could be a bit noisy. Although they've installed double-glazed windows which blocked most of the noise, people who are sensitive to sound might want to ask about the room's orientation beforehand. Also, the soundproofing between rooms could be better; I could hear the conversations from next door clearly. This might be because of the larger crowds during the May Day holiday, making it extra noisy. The hotel's breakfast, while not offering a huge variety, was very refined, with both Chinese and Western options, especially the freshly steamed soup dumplings (xiaolongbao) and steamed chicken feet with black bean sauce. Although the hotel is a bit old, it has all the necessary hardware facilities. The staff at every touchpoint were very friendly. The cleaning lady was very efficient, tidying up quickly and cleanly – much appreciated! The wet and dry separation in the bathroom was very well done. The TV could access most channels, and the desk was large enough to spread out all my belongings. The only issue was some leftover shower gel on the showerhead handle, which made it very slippery. I disinfected it myself. Since I arrived early, and the front desk was constantly helping me check in, and considering the high pressure on housekeeping during the May Day holiday, I understand things might have been rushed. I hope they'll pay attention to this next time. Overall, I will definitely choose the Railway Hotel again when I'm traveling by train.

Although there was a bit of a wait during check-in, the front desk proactively upgraded our room, which was a very thoughtful gesture. The room was clean and spacious, and the location was convenient. Overall, it was a great experience, and we were very happy traveling with our family.

The room was basic but clean. Breakfast was very simple. Soundproofing was terrible; I could hear the train, but the noise from the next room was even worse. I guess it's due to poor construction materials. Woke up in the morning to realize the next room was full of kids on vacation.

The location is fantastic, right across from the railway station. Check-in was smooth and the room was quiet. For business travelers, you can directly access anywhere in Shanghai via the subway from here.

The hotel location is very convenient just a short walk to Shanghai railway station (HSR & Metro). You feel really safe as the police station is just in front of the hotel. There's fast food like KFC, McDonald's and some convenience stores nearby. At night, there were nights that were quiet and the other night a bit noisy because at the front of the hotel there's a parking lot for van deliveries. The hotel's room is spacious enough for us and it's being cleaned every day. The breakfast is so-so. Breakfast starts at 6.40am-9am. Overall, we had a nice stay here and will definitely stay here again if ever we'll go back to Shanghai As a side note. Wear a mask if you hate smoking. Outside the railway station there are a bunch of people smoking here and there.

The room was quite spacious and the bedding was comfortable. The location is excellent, right next to Shanghai Railway Station, just to the right when you exit the South Square. It's especially convenient for travelers catching an early morning train. You can walk to the station entrance in just a few minutes, super, super convenient. The hotel breakfast was also good, and the shower had strong, hot water. The biggest downside is the poor soundproofing; you could clearly hear the TV from the next room.

Great value for money, attentive service, and a quiet, comfortable environment. Definitely a long-term recommendation.

You can definitely tell this hotel is an older one. It's a renovated old building, and there aren't even charging ports by the bed. Even with double-paned windows, it's quite noisy outside. However, the breakfast was good, it's very close to the train station, and the price was decent.

The soundproofing in the room is terrible! I was woken up at 5 AM by the noisy couple next door, who chatted loudly for over an hour. Calling the front desk didn't help much. They continued to make noise after dinner. I had no choice but to check out early. The only upside is its proximity to the train station.
