OYO Mayfair Hotel - Isle Of Wight

Couldn't fault cleanliness and location. Reception and hotel bar are lovely, stylish and welcoming. Double room which due to its shape would of lent itself better to either a single room with singled bed or a single room of someone who likes a bigger bed due to only one bedside table fitting alongside the bed. I understand we didn't select a sea view room so we knew not to expect one but what we were charged for the location of the room I would of expected a better quality bed that wasn't using a fleece blanket as a mattress topper and didn't have a bedside table for each side of the bed, drawer missing from the dresser in the room and the flimsiest chair ever as an extra seat in the room. As we arrived late we had picked up takeaway and the owners were accommodating enough to loan us plates. Breakfast was nice and they were very accommodating in plating up a fresh breakfast for my partner and I when there wasn't a lot left on the buffet however this wasn't made clear what was happening so was stuff on our plates that we don't like. Though we absolutely appreciated the service it felt a little awkward. Also despite either being dished up fresh or thee buffet being replenished, nothing was hot...

Lovely hotel, rooms basic but clean. Buffet breakfast very nice. Short walk down to beach, can get the lift back up if you like staff very nice and helpful. Had a curry bowl which was really lovely asked if they could make it quite spicy and they did. Second night they prepared an indian buffet for £18 per person, again very nice. Tried a flaked rice dish at breakfast which was amazing. would definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel, ideal spot right by cliff path and near to beach. Large carpark which is unusual for Shanklin as parking is a big issue. I would class it as a budget hotel as the price was very reasonable. There has obviously been a lot of work done with fresh decor all round. I noticed a review about mobility problems and lots of stairs. I have chronic arthritis and have a walker, I also saw someone in a wheelchair. There is a slope up to the bar area and rooms on the same level. The breakfast room is downstairs however this can be reached from the ground level. It’s probably best to ask for a ground floor room if required. Our room was a twin but made into a double with a mattress cover. Basic room but clean and comfortable. The kettle needed to be filled with a cup as wouldn’t fit in basin but not a problem. The one thing I would change would be to provide teaspoons as didn’t like the wooden stirrers, maybe had a lot go missing. The hotel also offered meals in the evening which was great if you didnt feel like going out. Family were lovely and very friendly.

It felt like home away from home. Food was a blessing. Typical Indian food cravings were taken care of. And we're met above and beyond. Not just the landlady but the whole team was super accommodating. We were around 40 people visiting IOW for a work schedule and the whole Mayfair team was ready to cater for all our requirements. Nice environment and a great sea view.

Rubbish. They've no idea how to run a British B&B. Weird atmosphere, not welcoming. The lady was a bit friendlier on the 2nd day. Kettle in room didn't work, so no tea. No lifts, awful if you've got mobility problems, so many stairs. Very good beach, which was the ONLY positive.

Excellent hotel. We found the family running the hotel very welcoming and very pleasant. Which is just what you need to begin a nice relaxing break. Nothing was too much bother for them. The room we booked had fantastic uninterrupted sea views from two large windows. It was very clean, had a very comfortable bed, the bathroom was a fair size with a very powerful shower. Short walk from transport connections and regular bus services to Godshill, Ventnor, Newport etc if you did want to venture out of Shanklin for a few hours but saying that, we found Shanklin esplanade to have excellent places to eat and relax plus good shops and pubs in the main town. All in all a fantastic break and could not have asked for better weather either resulting in a very memorable time and for all the right reasons! We will definitely be returning.
