We lived in Como for a while and walked past this hotel every day. It's literally on the lakefront and as central to the centro storico, the bus station and the train station as it is possible to get. We always thought it would be a nice place to stay. Roll forward and we had reason to visit Como again this week so we booked it. I also booked another room for someone we were planning to meet in Como. The hotel is one of those elegant old-school hotels you could imagine from reading about the grand old days of ('old' in the sense of traditional, elegant and sophisticated - but not 'old' in a 'tired' way). Imagine the exact opposite of a modern steel & glass skyscraper hotel and this is what you will find here. Staff were very attentive and friendly (while still being unobtrusive and professional). Food was excellent. Maybe the breakfast was a little but expensive but that's the way it is with hotels - just book it with your reservation and you'll save. Dinner in the restaurant overlooking the fountain (twice) was fantastic. Many of the dishes were not as expensive as local tourist ripoffs elsewhere in the City. The Cotoletta Milanese was as good as I have ever tasted anywhere in northern Italy (imagine a soft, succulent Veal steak covered in breadcrumbs) and big enough to share 1/3 of it and still be full afterwards. The Lunch menu was better and less expensive than places with much less quality on the menu. Overall, I would happily recommend the Palace Hotel to anyone. Treat yourself and book a room with a Lake View. You won't regret the extra few Euro.

Great location and service, the room was very original and right at the front of the building, however was surprisingly quiet. The hotel were able to fit us in for an additional night at late notice which was great. The bed was very comfy and a great breakfast buffet

This hotel is well located (although initially difficult to find), being only a short walk away from the centre of Como. The rooms are small but perfectly fine if you’re doing a little break at the lake. Breakfast is simple but does the job. The room that we stayed in was right on the main road, had an air conditioning control which didn’t work meaning we were left with either leaving the windows open to stay cool, but hear all of the traffic in the main road next to the room, or shut them, be hot and have it more quiet. Staff are helpful and will look after bags etc on your final day. Only actual main complaint came right at the end of our stay where one of the staff members got overly annoyed that we didn’t have cash to pay for 2 bottles of water, despite paying everything else on card. He raised his voice at us, we were happy to pay or figure it out but he was almost too angry to work it out. I would recommend staying here, just make sure you’ve got cash for water!

I stayed at Avenue for one night at the end of a business trip. Como is only a 45 minute drive to Malpensa airport. I was a bit hesitant based on some reviews, but I can say that the hotel was fantastic! Room was super clean, and even had its own terrazzo to relax on. Room was on the small side, but very normal for Italy. Bathroom was clean and spacious. I don’t know where people had issues with noise, but my room was totally quiet the entire time. Only issue was that the safe wouldn’t open after I locked it. The staff came up immediately, and took some time to sort it out, but they got it done. They were incredibly nice (and apologetic, which wasn’t necessary). Ate dinner at the pizza shop around the corner that shared the patio right in front of the hotel. Food was great, and super convenient. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Tucked back behind some lakefront restaurants, this gem of a hotel was a true find. Quaint, charming, well-appointed, and an excellent location. It's like you are in an old convent with courtyards that has been lovingly restored and updated. Old stone walls in the rooms. There is only a small sign on a wall on the walkway back to the hotel - you will miss it and not know if you are in the right place, but the staff of the restaurants probably get asked so much, that one of them approached us and asked if we were looking for the hotel. :-) No street noise. Breakfast under the arches outside the main entrance started our days beautifully. Food was probably the best we had for breakfasts in two-week trip. Fresh fruit included berries; pastry and bread selection was great, cheese, vegetables, grains - something for everyone. The front desk staff were super helpful and warm. We loved our room - the Coloniale. Easy key-pad entry, umbrellas for use (which we had to use). This property exudes character and is not your run-of-the mill chain. It is a boutique experience and we loved every minute of our stay!

My wife and I stayed at B&B Vista Lago for five nights in September 2024. We had Room 2. A comfortable clean room with the added bonus of a sitting area with a beautiful view of Lake Como. Breakfasts consisted of cereal, fruit, yogurt, cheese, meat and pastries. You can also have freshly scrambled eggs if you wished. Juices and coffee rounded out the menu. There is a terrace when weather permits. Giano, was a wonderful host. He assisted us with all our questions and made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for him. If you do not have a car then be prepared to taxi or bus down to Como, the town below which is about 3K away. Of course, we enjoyed visiting some of the other villages on the lake, shopping, seafood dinners and the amazing people we met along the way. ❤️🇮🇹

SStephanieCheck in was easy and seamless. You get your personal code to access the room. I was in an 8-bed mixed dorm. Great vibes all round. Everyone was very friendly. Oh and a complimentary welcome drink too. There's a 24hour supermarket right next door which wsas very handy to have for late arrivals. Bathroom was clean and easy. plenty of space for storage despite being in a 8-bed room. highly recommended.

Ssamanthab20192019Location is perfect In the main square after a 5 min walk from rail station (incoming from Milan). This lovely en-suite room is perfect for a few days. Yaiza our host was amazing, and so helpful with top tips on things to do, how to get there … even giving us the bus number and location as to where to get on, and of course restaurant recommendations. Only a small point, that the mattress was a bit soft for our liking and could have had extra pillows for bed. Would highly recommend:)

PPengguna TetamuThe location was great but it was a strange hotel. We were in room 901 but it was on the ground floor. We opened the door and were hit by a heavy perfume aroma. This never went away even when we opened a window. The fly screen had holes in it. The room was an odd shop with the bathroom door touching the bed. It was difficult to stand at the sink as the toilet was in the way. The bed was lumpy so we didn’t sleep well. However the breakfast was excellent and the lady was welcoming. Disappointed to be honest.

The best possible location, right on the square, two minutes from the lakes edge. Clean, plenty of white cotton sheets and towels, spacious shower with nice smellies provided etc. Moustach (apologies for spelling!) on reception was lovely, quick check in (early too!) and must also recommend the €15 per person breakfast. I am coeliac and they were very good catering for Gluten Free. My only pointer would be that Italy often follows a rule that aircon can’t be below 22. So it did feel that our aircon wasn’t quite adequate. Reception did provide a fan which helped and we slept well mid August. I went with a friend as part of a wider trip but do intend to return to Como with my husband, I will be rebooking at the Alberto Firenze. You couldn’t ask for more!

PPengguna TetamuPosizione ottima, in pieno centro (è un plus ma anche un malus per il baccano giù in strada fino a tarda notte, specialmente nei weekend). Bisogna però essere onesti, sulla struttura c'è tanto da lavorare...Camera venduta come superior ma le superior sono ben lontane. Niente TV in camera e questo è per me grave se vendi una 'superior' a quasi €100 a notte. Insonorizzazione pessima, si sentiva anche il russare delle camere accanto...Molto scomodo il fatto che sia ad un terzo piano senza ascensore quindi solo scale, e a fine giornata è davvero dura, impossibile per famiglie con carrozzine o per portatori di handicap. Portone d'ingresso su strada poco curato, confina con la porta di servizio di un ristorante/bar che emana odori forti a tutte le ore. Apprezzata la macchinetta del caffè in camera e l'acqua, ma ciò non esalta la struttura in se. Il bidet perdeva acqua, un condizionatore montato sulla cappa della cucina con tubo di scolo nel lavandino della stessa. Per una camera venduta come Superior a quasi €100 a notte direi proprio no...Ok la pulizia e cortesia telefonica dello staff (dico telefonica poiché non abbiamo mai incontrato i proprietari per ovvie ragioni personali, nè esiste una reception).C'è da dire che son stati molto cortesi nel lasciarci la camera anche dopo l'orario del check out senza supplemento, davvero una comodità per chi visita e poi torna prima di partire.

Highly recommend DO NOT BOOK that horrible hotel! There are much better accommodations around. 03.09- 04.09 Me & my boyfriend paid 230 euros for one night's stay in that hotel (COMO) The receptionist (Cristian) said the policy of the hotel obliges us to pay the whole amount for accommodation while check-in. So we did. I paid the whole amount in cash. The next day 04.09 hotel charged me again the same whole price for my stay by using my card details. I called reception, and Claudia told me that she will call me back, but she never did, she left home without telling any colleagues about my problem. I called reception again the next day and Claudia when she heard that it's me she said that I have to wait for an answer. I asked her how long because I need my money and I want to know when will I have it back, but she dropped the phone! DROPPED THE PHONE! So I don't even know what to do, it is super humiliating to face such an attitude, should I bag the hotel to get my money back?! They do not reply to the emails, do not call me back, or hang the phone if I call. I don't want to go to the police, but what else can I do?! The hotel in Como and the hotel in Milan have two different owners, so even in Milan, they said that they can not do anything to help me. It's the first time in all my travel experience I face such rudeness and unprofessionalism. Apart from that, we did the checkout at 11.15, so we were 15 min late. The receptionist (Claudia) charged us 15 euros (1 euro per minute) for the late checkout. More of that, she insisted that I should pay as well for the late checkout for the other guests, that Im not related to! Because we booked our rooms at the same time for her it means that we are friends and I will pay for them as well! I couldn't do anything since she had my card, I was obliged to pay. The other guests, paid for their rooms separately, with another card, but Claudia still charged me those 40 euro! That is unacceptable! I was very mad, so I told Claudia the trough ”That is the worst hotel I had ever stayed” and Claudia replied, ”YOU ARE THE WORST CUSTOMER EVER”. Apart from all that, the rooms are very poor, the view is horrible! For many years there are the construction works in front, so that will be the view from your balcony! The walls are so thin that you can literally hear all the conversations of the other guests. Thank you for reading that, I hope you will make the right choice and find another place where a guest is not treated that badly for their own money. Good luck
