I'm not normally one to write a review but felt compelled to share the exceptional experience we had at the Vista Lago di Como. From the moment we arrived at the charming reception lobby and were greeted by the warm and welcoming staff we knew our stay would be delightful. The staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating. We arrived late in the evening, and they were able to recommend and secure a dinner reservation at a lovely restaurant nearby once we’d settled into our beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean room. Besides being impeccably decorated, we loved the gorgeous and spacious bathroom with soaking tub, large shower and exceptional array of amenities. The bed was wonderful – the mattress was very comfortable, linens luxurious - even offering a pillow menu. The closet was spacious. The furnishings were elegant, yet comfortable and functional – a desk for work and a sitting area with credenza for relaxing or entertaining. Throughout there were extra details demonstrative of exceptional luxury – lavender spray and chocolates at the bedside, prosecco and macarons on the credenza, the coziest hotel slippers ever, umbrella and shoe brush in the closet. The property is centrally located at the lake’s edge a short walk from the train/bus station, ideal for strolls along the lake promenade and conveniently located near the heart of the walled city for easy access to restaurants and shops. While there is hustle and bustle around the lake and plaza on which the property sits, the hotel walls and windows seem soundproof as we never heard any noise from the street or another room for that matter. Breakfast was served in the stylish upstairs restaurant. It was by far our favorite breakfast during our stay in Italy. The atmosphere was elegant, but cozy and comfortable. Service was lovely. The buffet had a wonderful variety of quality selections and there was an option to order off the menu without additional charge. While other hotels on our travels may have had a more expansive buffet offering, none were as tasty or as curated as the buffet at Vista Lago di Como. We’d been to Lake Como many years before so were looking to see some different and less touristy parts of the lake. We engaged the services of the butler, Alberto, who customized several experiences for us. He planned and guided us on a tour of the east leg and trunk of the lake by car and then took a private boat to several towns and villas along the route back to Como. The tour with Alberto was one of the most memorable parts of our holiday. He shared less visited spots around the lake known only to locals. He was interesting and knowledgeable but very unobtrusive in his guidance, allowing us the flexibility to stop, wander and explore on our own. I stayed here for a few nights while working in Lugano Switzerland nearby. I thought the room was really good and clean and I had a nice balcony. The rate was very good. I liked that the hotel was a bit away from the city center, but a nice walk to the old walled city. I mapped 800M to the Porto Torre in the old city and 1.3 KM to the Cathedral by the lake. It felt like being in the real town of Como, not the fully tourist area. There is a really nice rooftop bar with a pool and I went there for drinks and had some decent food there also. I also had quite a nice breakfast buffet included. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoy walking, and they gave me an excellent map and directed me on a lovely walk around the lake to Cernnobio the next village over and I took a ferry back that was only 2.5 euros. I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Como.

I stayed at Avenue for one night at the end of a business trip. Como is only a 45 minute drive to Malpensa airport. I was a bit hesitant based on some reviews, but I can say that the hotel was fantastic! Room was super clean, and even had its own terrazzo to relax on. Room was on the small side, but very normal for Italy. Bathroom was clean and spacious. I don’t know where people had issues with noise, but my room was totally quiet the entire time. Only issue was that the safe wouldn’t open after I locked it. The staff came up immediately, and took some time to sort it out, but they got it done. They were incredibly nice (and apologetic, which wasn’t necessary). Ate dinner at the pizza shop around the corner that shared the patio right in front of the hotel. Food was great, and super convenient. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

“The Sad Decline of the Albergo Le Due Corte”. After having very happily and regularly frequented the Due Corte since 1993, I have now stayed there for the last time. It was a lovely provincial city hotel under charming and dedicated family management. However, it was sold pre pandemic to a less than competent hotel chain and thereafter the decline began. The core of the problem are the staff, off-hand, sultry and impolite to say the least and each showing an obvious lack of training in customer service and understanding of what makes a good hospitality establishment. The hotels general substance quality has also suffered significantly under the new ownership/management. Having a personal affection of the hotel itself, I was prepared to continue to visit and stay there after the transfer of ownership to a hotel group, giving the staff the benefit of the doubt and thinking that perhaps once they “found their feet” at the new “group acquisition”, their level of service, quality and attention to what is important could possibly improve . . . but sadly that has not been the case, I would say that the decline in standards has continued unabated. In addition to the appalling quality level of the staff, the overall price performance of the establishment is no longer representative of what one would expect to be offered at a 4 star rated establishment.i There are over 200 hotels in Como and the immediate surrounding area and I, as I believe many other ex Due Corte guests (having read some of the web comments), will certainly be moving to alternatives.

We only spent 2 days as we were commuting from Venice to Zurich with a quick 1- 1/2 day stop by train in Como. This Hotel was perfectly located in Como Center and walking distance (12 minute walk) to the Train station. Took the Fast Ferry to Bellagio, and Menaggio for a quick look around and food. Only spent one night there and it was very basic but clean.
