After a week of trying to navigate the big cities of Rome, Naples and Florence, it was a welcome relief to be in the countryside. We even had a parking lot next to the villa and we didn't have to fight for a parking space. The views were just like the movies. The staff was very helpful. The room was large and comfortable. The dinner in the restaurant was delicious. The wines were great. Breakfast was nice and a wonderful way to start the day. We visited during the beginning of the season so the hotel was not full and the pool was not open yet. The restaurant was closed one night, so we picked up sandwiches for dinner during our visit to Siena. The hotel opened the breakfast room for us to eat our sandwiches and provided wine and other drinks. It was like our private dinning room. All the employees were great. The chef even showed us his herb garden next to the restaurant.

Villa Il Castagno Wine Resort is the perfect small resort for visiting Tuscany. The rooms were nice, the views were awesome, the manager Anna could not have been a better host. Abu was available for whatever we needed day or night. The chef and waitstaff in the restaurant were awesome as well. The food was fantastic. Highly recommend the wild boar ragu. Every morning and evening was the most serene setting. I could not get over how quiet it was compared to anywhere else I have been. They also had a perfect pool area with cabanas.

Looking at other reviews if felt as if we were in a different place, the position of the hotel is wonderful but I am afraid we did not find the stay as enjoyable as other reviewers. No one was around when we arrived and as it was raining we had to go away and come back later. The food was fine but not a lot of choice, the service on our second night was terrible we had to wait ages for our order to be taken despite only 6 other people in the restaurant .I have never been served such a small glass of Prosseco !

A moment of dreams, everything was perfect. Service at the restaurant was really appreciated. Awesome landscape. Very beautiful place. The room is clean, confortable, with a lot of space. We really enjoyed our journey.

Our third time at Villa il Castagno and again it didn't disappoint. If your looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful setting yet only 5 minutes from Siena this is the place for you. Rooms and breakfast were great and as usual served with a smile and warm welcome from Veronica. One tiny issue around the per-ordering of breakfast as we would have preferred the old buffet option but as I said this didn't spoil our enjoyment overall.

The place and food are amazing! I two days in the property and everyone are great providing genuine good service(special note to Veronica who is amazing). It is besides Siena and have great options around close to everything you can see around. I wished I had stayed more. Loved

Villa il Castagno was the perfect choice for our week in tuscany. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The location is astonishing, with a great 360o view of Tuscany hills with vineyards and olive trees… and you are 3 minutes away from the highway and 5 minutes from Siena parking, It has a very good restaurant in the property, we had dinner there half of the nights of our stay and it was great food and service. By the way, service is the top point of this property. All the staff is very gentile and helpful. However I must make a special compliment to Veronica, who serves the amazing breakfast. She is a special person, with a great smile and helpful with all aspects of your stay, giving you destination, restaurant and shop tips. Really recommend this place.

I stayed for 4 nights with my husband and our 11 months old baby and we could't have made any better choice. This place is so welcoming and friendly, you feel at home immediately. The entire spot is beautifully arranged and the view ist fantastic. We are definitely coming back.

Such a beautiful place to stay, we were overwhelmed by the views and the pool area. Amazing. We had planned to explore more of the area during our stay but ended spending all of our time taking advantage of the beautiful garden in the glorious weather. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, bringing us drinks and food around the pool. The lunch was always fresh and lovingly presented, with the chef making daily fresh bread. They were very accommodating for my partners gluten intolerance. Room was a good size, wonderfully authentic with modern updated bathrooms Breakfast was good, however not a huge choice. And it was extra for anything cooked. We had dinner one night and was disappointed when we had read such great things. We had 2 pasta dishes which were so small, honestly about 2 bites, and were charged double what we paid anywhere else in Italy for pasta. I understand the location calls for a price increase, but I would expect the same portion and not a smaller one. It put us off eating again there a second night unfortunately. Only a slight downside but we would definitely stay again.
