When traveling in Italy, I always seek out apar**ents or B&B located in historic buildings. I feel this provides an even better local experience. Visiting Syracuse for the first time, Palazzo del Sale fit the bill perfectly. The rooms and common areas were well done and very comfortable. Giovani, who ran the B&B is a rock star! He was extremely helpful and friendly. His pup Gigi made breakfast extra special!

The palazzo is an ideal place to stay in Syracuse. The location is central near the beach promenade and intriguing laneways lined with trattorias and craft shops. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable and every morning we enjoyed coffee and croissants with the very best home made jams. The unexpected happened when we discovered we had to leave early due to a train strike which threatened to cause us to miss our train to Naples. When we paid our bill the very kind and helpful manager refused to charge us for the complete reservation - we were very grateful for that generosity.

We loved our stay here!! Perfect location, our room was quite large, perfect for walking around beautiful Ortigia- probably our favorite place on our trip to Sicily. Giovanni was the perfect host- friendly and easy to chat with. He gave us alot of great suggestions for dining. Breakfast was simple, but delicious. The perfect cappucino and cornetto! Our only complaint was that the bathroom needed some updating- paint was peeling, and tiles were kind of worn. The bedding was very comfortable. We loved having a little balcony to enjoy our pre- dinner wine and people watching.

Enjoyed our stay at this charming establishment with another couple. We occupied two rooms with private patios on the third floor. Rooms were nicely furnished with comfortable beds and linens and unique artistic touches. Our host, Giovanni, was friendly and provided fresh croissants and cappuccinos each morning. There is a very nice community space on the second floor with self serve hot beverages. Wine and beer is also available for purchase. The location is perfect for exploring Ortigia and extremely walkable to restaurants and sights.

Giovanni was a warm and welcoming host. He provided us with lots of helpful recommendations of places to see and eat. The b and b is beautiful and the room we stayed in comfortable and stylish. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in a central area.

Great place in a superb location . Giovanni is a fabulous host . Its a short walk and you are in the middle of the Ortigia and a similarly short walk have a swim from the swimming platform.

Very characterful small B&B in an excellent location. Our room was the most charming we had in Sicily. Our host Giovanni is Sicilian hospitality personified. Our beautiful room at the side had a large four poster and couch with a good TV, and hot shower in the (rather small) bathroom. Outside on the first floor is a lounge area with tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was served out on the quiet streetside terrace. It's true the breakfast is simple (two very fresh small croissants each and a selection of jams, plus coffee). You can order freshly squeezed orange juice from Giovanni's own garden for extra and it's worth doing so - it was delicious. We had a lovely relaxing stay and wished we had stayed three nights not two. The car collection and drop off facility works really well, at a cost of 20 Euros per night. You are so central everything on Ortigia is within a ten minute walk. Relax and enjoy it and save the few sites of Syracuse (which aren't that great) for when you are on the way out.

A warm welcome from a small and friendly B&B. The rooms were very tastefully decorated and there is a lounge on the first floor where hot drinks can be made. Beer and wines are also available at an additional cost. Giovanni is a very friendly host who provides cornettos and freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast. The B&B is in a great location and there are many restaurants in the area. It is a comfortable 30 minute walk into the centre of Syracuse. This B&B is recommended and I would not hesitate to book this place again if travelling to Ortegia.

A small building with five or so rooms. Our junior suite was spacious with two terraces and interesting architectual design incorporating old edifice. Quiet street towards the southern end of Ortigia, which is ideal. Car valet is useful. You drive to hotel, and valet picks it up and takes it to parking area. Only 5 euros more than public parking would cost you. 30 minute retrieval. From online research and anecdotal accounts, not a lot of better options. The big hotel, the Palace, looks great but one traveler said she moved after one night because the air conditioner didnt work. She ended up at the Algila Ortigia Charme which she reported was very nice. But that's in a different class than this small B&B. I was a bit surprised that the breakfast offerings were as modest as they are. Coffee, croissant, orange juice. If something else was available it wasn't obvious. I have hard time giving five stars to a small B&B with an insubstantial breakfast, which accounts for my generous 4 stars.
