Old Fort Lodge

A nicer couple you could not meet! They were lovely and made a genuine effort when we turned up and asked for a vegan breakfast! The room was very clean and the shower was also clean and worked great! It’s a beautiful house in a beautiful road. Nice and quiet. It’s a nice walk into town or the bus at the end of the road will get you there in 5-6 minutes! Sligo has a lot going for it. It’s a very clean town and very picturesque. Get to see the abbey if you have an hour or so to kill on an afternoon. Everybody seems chatty and friendly!

The property is very clean although there was a lighter and loose tobacco in the top drawer of the chest of drawers in our room. We were in room 3 which was adjacent to the shared bathroom. We could hear everyone using the bathroom and were awake most of the night. The mattress wasn't comfortable due to the spring pockets pressing against our bodies. The host was friendly.

I booked and prepaid for a double room with en-suite. Upon arrival, when they saw I was alone, I was moved to a single room with restroom down the hall and downstairs. I am a 65 y/o woman, traveling alone. I need a bathroom at night. None of the sinks worked, except for the one downstairs powderoom. If I needed water for the kettle or wash my hands after toilet-down the stairs I went. This is not a lodge, it is someone’s home. I was very uncomfortable. WiFi worked as did the TV. No chair in the room and bed was broken on the end, so no place to sit.

Old style B&B in a comfortable house. Comfortable stay in a typical old style B&B, with a shared bathroom in someone's home. The hosts are really friendly and helpful (and make a great breakfast), the room was fine, although mattress/pillows were on the thin side and you could hear noise from outside of the room, and tv reception could be intermittent at times! Wifi though was excellent, and never had any issues with waiting for the bathroom. It's a short drive into Sligo or Strandhill.

good enough for a quick stay overnight know that this is a B&B at someone's house in a very nice neighborhood. Be on the lookout for kids on their bikes and running around the street, so you do not run them over. Also all the houses look the same so do not go to the wrong one in the dark, like I did. The owner is a lovely, retired gentleman, the house is very clean. You have to share the bathroom with the other rooms/guests. The pillows are little flat and the bed is kind of stiff

Great neighborhood! Room was comfy and clean, bathroom was huge and great.

The room/s are on the first floor up stairs; and the bathroom/WC is shared between guests, however there is a WC on the ground floor. We had to wait a long time for the bathroom to be vacant on the morning we were leaving. We found our room very small for 2 people. Tea/coffee/water is in the room however there is no fridge. There is some on-site parking. The residence is a 25 minute walk from the city.

******* description seemed to indicate it was a hotel near the beach and a golf course but it is actually just a house in a cull-de-sac with not indication that it is a even a B&B. A bed for the night with no frills and a nice breakfast for an additional €10. Easy access to the town centre (20 minute walk).

Lovely house and room. Host was very helpful in arranging transport for us and recommending thins in Sligo town.
