Hotel Snæfellsbær dengan Sarapan

Perfectly fine but if you’re budget conscious, this isn’t the place to spend extra $$. After looking at options on the peninsula, this seemed like the best option, even though it was more expensive than other options. The view was great but not really worth paying more when all we really wanted was good food and a comfy place to sleep. Did not love our meals, pretty bland overall. Also, the pillows on the bed were flat. The room was clean and the staff were friendly, but not a great value for what you get.

The staff here were so kind - helping us (in the rain) get back into our room, which we locked ourselves out of while unloading! The room and bathroom were wonderful - comfortable and with hot water! Everything in the hotel was very fancy with beautiful views and a great location!

The room was large, with heating in the floor—they brought us a portable heater as we hate the cold—and a big bathroom with an enclosed shower. There was no bench or suitcase holder, but there were three chairs, two bath towels, two wash clothes, and no hand towels. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the hotel and breakfast. We recommend staying at this guesthouse. However, the dinner had a minimalist menu, and we were not impressed with the food quality. We do not recommend eating dinner at this hotel.

Overall very good, for a reasonable price, they have new and clean facilities, with decent room space. Has quite environment and friendly staff. Its not 24 hour reception and breakfast could be better. Can also adjust the door of the corridor to be more queit as it's loud when close without paying attention.

Nice set up with multiple cottages on one side of the road (further from the water) and the hotel on the other side (closer to the water). If view is important to you, then the hotel might have better access to water view as some of the cottages probably look at the buildings of the hotel. Luckily my cottage was at the east end (room 11) so my window had an unobstructed view of the water, and my door could see the hotel/water as well. Check in is at the Arnarstapi Center (where the restaurant is) and that’s also where you park your car. It’s a short 1-2 min walk to your cottage. But you are allowed to drive up to your cottage to unload luggage before parking your car a bit further. The inside is basic but lights were functional. Kettle, microwave, and mini fridge. We didn’t want to eat at the restaurant so bought a sandwich before coming here and microwaved it to heat it up. Would be nice if they provided basic utensils and plates. I had no problems with wifi as some others have had. Fast connection, could watch Netflix. It is true there is limited hot water (~5 min) but my partner and I just showered 1 hour apart at the end of the night. Both had hot water and with the expectation it would be short lived. It’s nearby to the trail by the waterfront including the stone bridge which was pretty. I would stay here again if I drove into the peninsula again.

This was the lowest-rated, but fairly highly - priced, of all the places we stayed in Iceland, and given some of the poor reviews, we were doubtful about what to expect. However our apartment, looking out over the harbour, was huge. It was a family room with 3 beds (even though we’d only requested a twin) and had masses of space. The furnishings all seemed quite new (though rather 1970’s style) with lots of storage space. The kitchenette was also bigger than expected (and included a microwave plus tea/coffee which wasn’t mentioned) but the lighting needed improving. Nor were we expecting the apartment to be serviced daily with new towels, etc. The bathroom was disappointing - very spacious but with a tiny basin, no towel rail, and generally very utilitarian decor. The website mentions ‘soundproofing’ - well, it doesn’t work! Talking in adjacent apartments was very clear, and cooking/washing up clattering was dreadful. However by 10pm all was quiet and remained so until 7:30am. WiFi was great and there was the added bonus of having UK TV channels. Access wasn’t an issue as other reviews suggest. We requested details via *********** a few days in advance and were told there’d be a free phone in the foyer to use to receive the door code. This worked perfectly. The town store has good supplies, with quite a few UK brands, but if you need cheaper food, shop before arriving in Olafsvik. The town is a great location for touring the peninsula but there’s not much here, other than a couple of restaurants. There are some great hikes around the waterfall and surrounding hills.
