SSka525Paid extra, service very poor. Arrived to check-in, nobody to serve, no receptionist at the desk. Did wait around 10 minutes, gave a call, no answer, but the receptionist arrived. Then went to their restaurant, very vague service. No cocktails on the meniu (that's what we came for), asked and then the waiter gave separate cocktails menu. Finally came back to room and realised my bed sheet is dirty! Went to reception and asked to change it since we just arrived. Same person from reception came with new duvet and linen, had replace myself, meaning lack of staff if the same person does everything within entire hotel. Breakfast decent, saw people drinking wine, but it wasn't marked as it's included in the breakfast or not and bottle sits aside from all the breakfast on the bar table.

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel's central location in the northeast end of Riga's old town made it very easy to explore the city. We were close to the city's main attractions and were within a 5 minute walk to the Cat House, Freedom Monument, Riga/Dome Cathedral, and St. Peter's Cathedral.
We booked the room without a window. It was very nicely decorated and the bed was really comfortable. The room was quiet but a bit stuffy and we felt the AC wasn't strong enough. We felt there was still good value with this room though because of the price and there was a lot packed into it. There was a Nespresso coffee machine, tea station, cute tea cups and a large bathroom with a very nice shower. We appreciated that a wall adapter was provided and plugged in that worked with North American style plugs.
The hotel is in a building from the 17th century and has a very nice looking mirrored atrium. There is a fun story where a horse threw a shoe, hit this building and stuck so the owner kept it because he felt it was good luck. The hotel has a bar in the lobby as well as a small shop.
The highlight of this hotel was the breakfast which had a great view of the city from the window and a very good breakfast. The breakfast had a small buffet with cheese, smoked fish, fresh bread and some other nice choices. We enjoyed the variety of drinks like the rhubarb lemonade and hot chocolate. You can order one hot item which included.

PPengguna TetamuThis huge (444 beds) former ”Moevenpick” Hotel in the outskirts of Riga can be a good value (see below) but shows its age (potentially from 1990 not much rennovated. The parking space is offered as ”free” but capacity is limited and you might park on public areas (as long as this is free to all, hotel will keep their parking ”free” - I suppose soon private parking management will start (charge impertinent 5€/h or so) and hotel will offer ”bargain” 25€ for the night as in Centrs.
The rooms are quite good in size and equipment (single room AC in summer is a plus!!) but oldfashioned and worn - so I'd say acceptabel for sleeping only. Customer are mainly travel groups from Germany, Poland and other Baltic states.
In summer it's nice that you can have breakfast (15€ extra - check the rates incl. - actually no access control) on the terrace, quality and selection is good.
Sauna 15€/person for 2 hours....
Remember that the area is remote, to visit Centrs or oldtown you NEED to use tram or Bolt. Though restaurants are in walking distance (google wil find)
This place a has value with rates for double incl. breakfast for 50-60€ (single 45-50€) on alotment base - I'd be very much disappointed to pay 100€++ for such a old worn ”booth” - max 3* more 2*

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel has value for money in the old town area of Riga. Check in was smooth and we were able to get into our room quickly to drop off our bags and get to Arena Riga for an ice hockey game with limited time to get there. The location is very central to the sites of Riga's old town and there are some very good restaurants nearby. There are quite a few convenience stores and souvenir shops nearby but they close fairly early. The hotel has a very interesting feeling to it with exposed brick walls and original/restored wood beams and stairs. We appreciated that it also had an elevator to get to the top floor we stayed on.
We booked the twin room and had a pleasant stay and the room was quiet enough to get a good night's rest despite the bars nearby. The beds were comfy but the pillows were a little thin. The room had a fully stocked mini bar with decent prices which would help if we got desperate for drinks. There was a large wardrobe and a small work desk in the room too. There were also plugs conveniently placed around the room so we could get all our devices charged. The bathroom was quite large and we appreciated the hot shower and towel warmer. They provide handsoap and a body/hair gel for the shower. The rooms have air conditioning and the windows open to help with the stuffiness. The twin rooms have a slanted ceiling so my short wife had the bed on the slanted side and had no issues.
The breakfast was very good and we enjoyed the variety of food brought out both mornings. They had hot items which changed a bit each day and included an egg omelette, bacon, potatoes, a Latvian pancake and sausages. There was a good spread of cold items too and we are sure a vegetarian would be satisfied with the offerings of vegetables, cheeses, devilled eggs and fruit. The coffee machine made a very good hot chocolate and they also provided juice and water with breakfast. There is a bar behind the check in counter that is open to hotel guests and a nice seating area in the lobby too if you're looking for something more later.
There is a sauna at the hotel but we weren't sure if it was open during our stay or what time it did open because there were no hours posted and we didn't get a chance to ask the staff. There is very limited free parking near the hotel and it seemed like the same local parked in front of the hotel each day. We would recommend taking the bus from the airport if you have the time but if you're in a hurry Bolt is pretty affordable in Riga to get around. There are car rentals north of the hotel and Bolt works in old town to book electric scooters and cars which was pretty convenient during our visit in Riga.

Check in was perfect and helpful with city map provided. Kettle, cups, sachet tea and coffee are provided, shampoo, hand soap, tissue paper, shower cap were provided in the bathroom. Would be good if they provided body lotion and hair conditioner. Sadly, the power plugs at the desk does not fit a travel adaptor and there are no usb ports. The single bed was right next to the curtain and a mirror is right in front of the bed, very weird room design. There’s a safe deposit box in the room. Do remember to bring your own slippers as no room slippers are provided.

AAlexander Richard ErnestHotelnya hebat dan berada di lokasi yang baik, tepat di pusat bandar lama. Kakitangan sangat ramah dan sangat berpengetahuan tentang kawasan ini. Seorang kakitangan yang dipanggil Lev sangat membantu, mengetahui banyak sejarah mengenai Latvia / tempat berkunjung dan sangat profesional. Hotel mempunyai watak yang hebat dan sarapan yang baik, dengan ruang makan sarapan yang indah. Saya pernah mendengar restorannya juga bagus, tetapi kami tidak sempat pergi dengan lawatan singkat itu. Pasti akan tinggal lagi.

PPengguna Tanpa NamaMy stay at the Opera Hotel has a pleathora of mixed feelings. I'd classify it as perfectly adequate for a short business trip if you get a good deal, but there are a few significant issues that really hampered the experience.
🚩 super narrow rooms, almost no space to put suitcases
🚩 upper mattress is moving while you are sleeping, so basically you end up falling from the bed
