Overall its worth the price. Only one downside, which the bathroom was a bit outdated with poor shower pressure. And we chose this hotel at the first place only because of the air conditioner, and it functioned well. There was a big carpark outside the hotel and staff members were friendly.

Lovely modern and clean hotel. Annoyingly, the cleaners woke us at 8am to clean the room!! Furious… stayed for anniversary and was woken up. Room incredibly hot and no air con. Hotel foyer was freezing cold- other guests with blankets and jumper! They need to adjust air con in public places and improve bedrooms. Carparking well priced at £6 Would definitely stay again if they could assure no early wake up call from staff

This property is in the heart of downtown Swindon. A Salvation Army shares the building so there were always people hangin out in front. Never felt unsafe, just a bit seedy. Great location in the heart of downtown. Easy to walk to shopping and restaurants. Room was clean and did the job. Can't really complain for the price.

We chose this hotel for a couple of reasons. Firstly it said it had a car park. Then two days before our stay, they emailed to say their car park was limited and we might have to park elsewhere. Limited is being nice - it has 8 car park spaces for the whole hotel. So it is highly likely you'll need to stay at the car park across the road with no gates and no security. We were supposed to get a discount as we were staying at the hotel but were told the discount wasn't working. Then the lifts weren't working so we had to carry out cases to the top floor! Having lugged our luggage up 15 flights of stairs (which were not nice and had rubbish in the stairwell), we found they had put us in a double and not a twin. My husband is 6ft 4 so we always book twin beds as we can't fit in a double...and this was a small double. They do not have a phone to ring reception so I had to go back down 15 flights of stairs to talk to reception. Even though they made the mistake, they acted like we were a real inconvenience but they did move us...to the twin room next door, which meant another 15 flight of stairs for me. Breakfast the next morning was crazy and they had run out of most things. They did bring out more but we had to wait about 20 minutes to even get cutlery. We were really unimpressed with the hotel. The staff weren't friendly or helpful, there were hardly any amenities and having to deal with the dirt and rubbish in the stairwell, the hotel did not feel clean. I would rather pay a little extra and stay somewhere much better.

The hotel is conveniently located just off the M4 in Swindon. We used it as a stop off while driving dueing the night. The hotel itself was very festively decorated with lots of Christmas decorations, which was great, ot felt very warm and welcoming. The 24 hour reception desk was one of the reasons we chose the hotel as we were arriving at midnight and the staff memver who checked us in was very professional and welcoming. The car park only had a few spaces left which worried us but we did get a space. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, there was no heating in our room. There is no central heating so they have put in A/C/heater units on the walls. Our seemed to be broken as it blew out cold air for 30 minutes before we decided to turn it off. We had been travelling for 26 hours at that point and it was gone midnight so I didn't want to go back to the reception desk and risk having to change rooms when we were already so tired. So we layered up and went to bed with jumpers & socks. I asked for a portable heater the next morning at breakfast and they put one in within 5 minutes so that getting ready in the morning wasn't so cold. I was very impressed with the responsiveness of the team. There is no heating in the bathroom either. It was a shame because everything else about the hotel was fine. The breakfast was good too. Perfect for a 1 night stop-over. However, I wouldn't recommend it for winter.

Me and Hubby had a great time at The Tawmy Owl. It started with dinner lovely home cooked Sunday Roast Then up to our room which we booked. Spacious, emaculat and really comfortable. Then back down for the Open Mike Night. Really great fun, lovely people, and lots of drinks to try. In the morning down for breakfast. Just what the Dr ordered. Thanks Laura for a great stay. Definitely a economical for field trip travellers and right on track of top the sustainable goals. Check-in, rest, housekeeping and other facilities outside the room went smoothly staying comfortably, had a superb breakfast adequate period of ”brunch on weekends. so appreciation goes to Concierge.

A good place to stay except water pressure of shower still leaves much to be desired. Will like to come back and see if it gets improved in the future!

I popped in for breakfast with my partner and the service was lovely. We requested poached eggs instead of the scrambled and veggie sausages also, the staff were lovely ! They Couldn’t have done anymore to help. Whilst going up for more toast we met the lovely chef, Sandra. Although busy she still took the time to chat to us. The staff serving were so extremely helpful and nice we took their names Wendy Morgan Landon Evie Thank you for your warm welcome amd making everyone in the restaurant feel welcome and catered for. We will most definitely be back !!

Driving into the hotel, we were so looking forward to our stay and a lovely evening with family. From the point of arrival through to departure we were, on the whole, very disappointed. To give a balanced review, the good points and areas for improvement are summarised below. Good points: - Beautiful grounds and plenty of parking - Lovely outdoor space - Choice of bars and eating areas - Pleasant rooms, nice bathrooms - *Some* staff (bar and restaurant) tried incredibly hard to provide a good customer experience Areas for improvement: - Attitude of *some* staff poor verging on condescending - Problems reported, but no apology given despite choosing one of the more expensive rooms thus expecting it to fully reflect hotel’s star rating - Impossible to get food in the evening at a large, AA starred hotel that doesn’t have any nearby alternative eating options - Bar and restaurant understaffed, we felt sorry for the 2 staff who tried hard to make a bad situation as good as they could for several of the resident couples/families We felt, driving away from the hotel, that it rests on its laurels far too much and doesn’t live up to its star rating. There are far better alternatives that are friendlier, more customer focused, more welcoming and respectful of guests. These establishments provide a service far superior to that which we received at Stanton House hotel. Advice to Management - Stanton House needs to take a long hard look at itself and demonstrably show that it can meet customers basic expectations.
