If you're a wheelchair user, please make sure to let the hotel know with plenty of notice. I use a wheelchair that doesn't fold and I couldn't get into my room without taking the wheels off as there's a wardrobe immediately as you enter the room. Fortunately, I am able to walk and only use my chair for longer distances.l, but for others, this could be a real issue. We stayed in that room for one night and they were happy enough to swap me into a different room in the morning. That first night was awful. There were concerning dips in the floor and the noise from being next to the ocean was so loud, plus the wind rattles the windows, it sounded like I was lost at sea. The receptionist was lovely and upgraded us to a family room, no issues, though I hope for the sake of others that there are double rooms available that are more accessible, not just family rooms. The family room was luckily on the other side, so it was totally silent. The breakfasts were quite stale and the milk for the cereal was warm so stuck with the crepes every morning. We did have dinner here one evening but unfortunately, when I got to the dessert stand, there was a cockroach crawling on the food. They were very apologetic and gave both of us a glass of wine as an apology, but then still had to pay full price on the meals. Fortunately, we did bring an extension cord as there weren't many sockets and not all of them even worked. There were no ceiling lights, just plug in lamps, which made it quite dim at night. The pool is barely heated but it takes a few seconds for your body to acclimatise. The mattress is quite firm and I found the pillows were far too high. Also beware that the hotel is on a VERY steep hill. Luckily, I can actually walk quite well in hot weather but I was definitely out of breath when I got from the bottom of the hill to the hotel. The WiFi is awful and I ended up just using my data. The zoo is well worth visiting though and it's a very short distance away. As you come into the hotel, it's got a huge lovely lobby which was lovely to sit in, so it really surprised me how poor everything else was. I have no ill intentions and the staff were lovely but I have to be honest.

This was my first solo holiday abroad and I wanted somewhere not too quiet but not too lively. This hotel ticked all the boxes. The grounds are immaculate and well kept. The staff were lovely and very friendly and approachable and the hotel was a nice walk away from the town centre. BUT...my room was unacceptable for a hotel of 4 star - I would be very generous giving it a 3 star at best. It was very, very dated. The fixtures and fittings were dirty and ripped. The room smelt and the pillow protectors were yellow. The wiring to one of the lamps was exposed!! On the plus side, the safe and air con were free. I mentioned this upon check out and was advised it was being maintained. Overall I enjoyed my four night stay, but I wouldn't recommend if all rooms were the same and I wouldn't return.

If you stay here in July / August, it is like staying at a kids summer camp. That is because there is actually a kids summer camp which takes place here, meaning that the gardens will be full of vast numbers of screeching kids all day from Monday to Friday, plus sometimes in the evenings and weekends as well. It is quite clear that the kids are their main interest, rather than paying hotel guests. The hotel will have you believe that the kids are confined to certain areas of the garden and that you can get away from the noise, however this is really not the case, and they also swarm into the hotel to have lunch each day. If you are looking to relax and enjoy the gardens and pools in peace and quiet, you will be out of luck.

Overall, we would give this hotel 3 stars. The lobby is beautiful, the pool areas and gardens are too. The staff are without exception very friendly and welcoming. The location, about 1-1.5 miles from the centre of Puerto de la Cruz suited us and we like walking. The main negative is that although the food at breakfast and dinner is varied and plentiful, any hot food is mostly lukewarm. There seems to be some issue with the method of keeping the food hot as it’s all a buffet system. Other hotels seem to be able to keep food hot but here it isn’t which spoils it. The lighting in the dining room is also very bright and so in the evening it feels a bit like being in a canteen, not a restaurant. Our room, facing the garden was large, clean and had everything we needed although it’s surprising how dated it was, comparing it to the lobby and bar, it needs refurbishing. In contrast to the dining room, the lighting in here was very poor, no central light existed. We did have some trouble with the lift cards, as did many others and this does need rectifying. We also had an issue with the pre-payment special offer with drinks at dinner where we were given the wrong information by two staff members which resulted in our bill being higher than expected on departure although we were given a free drink in compensation. As the hotel only appeared to be maybe a third to half full, the guy who tried to put some evening entertainment on seemed to be fighting a losing battle and it was very quiet which wouldn’t suit everyone.

We booked this holiday purely because of the bargain price for the school summer holidays. The hotel was lovely in the communal areas, very well looked after. The outdoors was amazing! The gardens are gorgeous and a treat to walk through. There were 3 pools all kept immaculately. There was never a worry that we wouldn’t be able to get a sun lounger! It was so peaceful by the pool. There was some sort of summer club on for kids that looked very busy, once you were by the pool you’d never know it was on. The bedrooms are slightly dated, I think the carpets make it feel more dated. All the furnishings are comfortable and good quality. We had an issue with the toilet not flushing and they sent someone to help us right away. We did notice the carpet wasn’t vacuumed daily, but the bathroom was cleaned every time. The air con worked perfectly keeping the room nice and cool. The sea view from the balcony was my favourite thing about the hotel, beautiful! The breakfast was average, always something to have, we certainly didn’t go hungry! Bread didn’t seem too fresh, and we did see sliced oranges with mould on them. The area to get toast gets a bit congested and some guests got grumpy about it. The drinks are all together in a small area that gets too busy too so quite often we didn’t bother with a drink because it felt too chaotic. The restaurant was kept clean and tables quickly set up. There is a small area where you can sit outside for breakfast and enjoy the view of the sea 😍 The location of the hotel is a little bit tricky! If you walk it takes about 10 mins to get to a few small restaurants, but about 40 mins to the main area. We walked to town but got a taxi back (€6) because the hill back to the hotel is very steep. Half way up the hill there is a gate to the hotel, it would be great if that was available for guests to use to get back in! There is a beach very close to the hotel but the path is closed off, very beautiful! We used the hotel shuttle bus to go to town, it was definitely needed. Takes you into town right next to a supermarket and in a shopping centre. The staff on reception are really good very helpful, always more than willing to help in anyway! Overall we had a lovely time at the hotel, we loved the pool at the top and the beautiful sea views!

The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast has a good choice of items that are replenished throughout the set times, so nothing runs out. The room was clean (if not a little dated) and the bed very comfortable. We had a room on the 11th floor with wonderful views of the dramatic coastline; unfortunately the balcony doors rattled in the night as the howling winds and crashing waves danced in harmony! Surprisingly it was not cold in the room despite the elements outside. The mini bar was empty, which suited us as we kept our own drinks and snacks in the fridge. Not much information was given as to when the sheets/towels/toiletries would be replaced - but we followed the international rule of putting our towels in the bath tub and they were changed - the sheets were changed once during our 8 night stay. There is a free shuttle bus service that takes you into the main town which is a nice touch, with the last bus returning to the hotel at 19.45, which is a bit early but to be honest it is not that far to walk, just uphill a lot! Too cold to go in the pool for us, but others enjoyed a morning swim with free towels if you asked for them. Overall a pleasant experience.
