We stayed here for weekend from Friday to Saturday and paid $550 per night for an oceanview room with no inclusions. We asked for a room on the highest floor which was level 8. Checkin was seemless and easy but to park at the hotel it is $32 a night. When the room is $550 and you are an IHG member would would expect free parking but not here. Staff were not willing to assist in any discount on parking. We first stayed at this hotel 10 years ago and read it had undergone a multimillion dollar renovation so we were keen to see how it had improved. We found our room which happened to be in the corner, not ideal since we were looking at other rooms and they could see into our room. Lets say the rooms look they missed out on the renovation. They are the stock standard corporate look room, desk and chair, uncomfortable sofa, basic tv, basic minibar. you would think for a hotel on the beachfront they would make it more holiday feel. There was are 6 coffee pods for the coffee machine but we had no cups and had to call reception for coffee cups. There were 2 wine glasses, 2 tumblers, no cutlery, plates or bowls. So if you want those $8 bag of chips you'll have to eat them from the bag. Of course everything in the minibar is overpriced so we didnt touch it, there are 2 bottleshops within 3 minute walk and a small IGA. We had some wine on the balcony one day and accidentally broke a glass, we picked up the pieces and left them for the cleaner to remove. Needless to say the cleaner came and went and left the broken glass where it was and didn't replace the glass either. This is a 4.5 star hotel? The balcony furniture also looks like it came from a 2 star hotel (see photo). The bathroom is also shocking, sink was blocked up and the cleaner didnt bother to report it after the room was cleaned. The bathroom is also the same it was 10 years ago. Location of course is good for the local restaurants, bars and beach so there was no need to eat or drink in the hotel. Few things that is not listed on the hotel website are: 1. Friday and Saturday the place is full of wedding receptions or birthday parties for under 30's. 2. Friday and Saturday night the hotel bar blasts music out from 3pm til midnight and can be heard even when the balcony doors are closed. 3. Once the bar shuts down you will hear everyone heading to the kebab shop next door til 1am and hoons wheel spinning there cars up the hill next to the hotel until about 3am. If you want a decent quiet sleep this is not the place to stay. For $550 a night it is overpriced and underwhelming. We also tried the gym which was from the 80's and had puddles everywhere due to leaks (see photo). Crowne plaza should be ashamed to charge so much for a 4.5 star hotel and let guests walk on towels put down to soak up leaks from the roof. Either renovate the hotel to a 4.5 star standard or reduce the room charges. We would not stay here again.
