The Chesterfield Guest House, Torquay

All I can say is ‘thank you’. I (not sure how) booked the wrong night! But very luckily there was one vacant room for us to stay in. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the hot chocolate at bedtime was lovely. Thank you again.

I contacted the owners in advance as my train was due in 2 hours before check in & the forecast was heavy rain. They ensured my room was ready for check in from late morning so I could head straight there from the station. It is self service check in, something I've never done before but it was so convenient & the instructions were very clear & easy to follow. My room was very clean, a great size & very comfy. The bed & pillows were so comfortable & the shower was lovely & big. I couldn't fault it. There is a tea/coffee tray & although I don't drink either I did enjoy a hot chocolate & the tasty biscuits. On each floor they have trays with additional toilet rolls/teas/coffees so you can top up when you need to - brilliant idea & so convenient. Although on a busy road it was quiet at night & I didn't hear noise from anyone else, in fact I don't know if anyone else was staying there as it was so quiet. I slept like a baby every night. There's a communal living room with a bar/honesty box & a little snack shack set up by one of the children. I didn't use this facility but again I thought it was a great idea. There isn't a breakfast option but that didn't bother me as it meant I didn't have to be downstairs by a certain time & I wasn't eating the same thing every day for breakfast. It gave me the freedom of getting up when I wanted & strolling down to town to pick where I had breakfast - perfect for me. It's also conveniently placed, a short walk to the sea front, close to the train station & there are 2 corner shops a very short walk away. Overall a great stay & you don't feel smothered by the owners, it's a very relaxed place which is exactly what I wanted. I can't recommend this place highly enough, if you want somewhere peaceful & relaxing then this is the place for you. I would 100% stay here again if I visited Torquay again.

We came down for a friends 40th and had a wonderful stay. Dan and Amanda were the best hosts. The rooms were Clean and tidy on arrival and they made us feel more than welcome throughout our stay. our two kids have also said they want to come again next year. We would highly recommend the Chesterfield

Very clean room,close to beach and harbour.The bed was so comfortable we had great sleep for 2 nights we were there.no issues all straight forward. Had a great stay, we will definitely stay at the chesterfield again! Thank you to Amanda. Great

Amazing facilities and very clean. The location is perfect and very close by are pubs, restaurants, fast food, shops etc. The hosts are amazing and very friendly. There is also an honesty bar with a huge selection of beers, wine, Prosecco. There is on street parking outside the house which is very useful. You will not be disappointed!!

The room was absolutely smart, bed linen was of excellent quality and had great sleep after a long day of activities .Easy check in and check out. Parking very accessible, few steps away from the beach and places to eat. I really loved this place , value for money.

I have stayed at Chesterfield Guest House throughout the Easter weekend 2024 and I couldn`t have made a better choice! Amanda and Dan are amazing hosts, very helpful and flexible to support with any asks. I have booked 2 nights which I wanted to extend, but could not do so on the booking website, they have kindly worked around it to facilitate my request. I travelled with my dog and in the room a dog bed, blanket and bowl were offered, too. The room was really nice and clean, well equipped and the blind was perfect. Location is great, few minutes walk to the seaside, there are pubs, off license shops and both dine-in/ takeaway places nearby. More restaurants on the seafront and bay side. I only can recommend their place to stay at and I am also planning on returning in the summer, too.

Perfect hosts, perfect location and a very comfortable room combined with on street parking. We had a great short stay and the location was very handy as a base to visit the surrounding villages and sights. Amanda and Dan are very welcoming and helpful with tips on places to visit. We really appreciated having a kettle and tea/coffee/milk supplies in the room.

Such a friendly warm welcome from Amanda and Dan, spotlessly clean. Very welcoming to our dogs. Doggie treats and towels on arrival. The shower in our room was lovely, excellent temperature and pressure. Loved having ground coffee as an alternative to jar in our room❤️. We stayed in room 8 which was had plenty of room, the bed was comfortable and good quality cotton bedding. Breakfast was lovely, I had full English with fresh summer fruit and there was a lovely calm atmosphere in the breakfast room. Lovely stroll to the town centre and picturesque harbour where the are plenty of bars and restaurants. Will def return if in the area.
