The stay was pleasant, the room was basic but clean missed not having a bath and just a shower missed simple things like a hair dryer in the room although when requested at the reception I was given one and lack of choice of coffee and tea in the room. It was very nice that there was no noise at night and meant a decent night's sleep. Breakfast was acceptable, but you have to get there early when it comes out hot from the kitchen, or it is all cold from spending to long under the hot plates. The only big downside is it's a good 30mns walk from the town centre although buses seem to run outside the hotel but there is a good-sized car park if you drive. The room was small but fine for just my 2 nights stay and acceptable. I'm not sure the room size, lack of luxuries and breakfeast beng hit and miss would make it comfortable for a longer stay.

So first of all I was surprised to know this hotel was formally known as Grosvenor which was on television 2012. Anyway peter who still works there is extremely knowledgeable and was so friendly and happy to show us around, as was all the staff very friendly an helpful. The hotel is going through redecoration with the rooms but we stayed in room 106 which wasn't newly decorated but was a very big room that yes was a little dated but it was absolutely spotless and the bed and pillows was one of the most comfortable I've slept in for a long time. The indoor pool for me was a bit on the cool side which was a shame but the others found it ok. Breakfast a must was absolutely delicious was so peaceful and even though buffet style there wasn't the usual scrum. On the whole myself , daughter and granddaughter had a fab time and will defo be returning soon, the only thing i think could of made it a little better was if they had even just a singer for a bit of evening entertainment, it would be nice to stay at the hotel and have a drink but with just a bit of something going on in the evening but wont put me off going back.

I have to say after reading some of the previous reviews I was pleasantly surprised by our short stay here. We hadn't planned on going anywhere this year as we're currently renovating our cottage but we all needed a break. Being extremely last minute and the fact there were six of us we didn't have many options, Tor Park had mixed reviews but we figured for the reasonable price we'd risk it. We stayed for two nights in two family rooms, on arrival our sat nav brought us directly to the hotel. Luckily we got a parking space, check in did take a little while but the gentleman dealing with us was friendly and professional. Our rooms were nothing like the photos that are being uploaded by other guests. They were clean, nothing was broken and I'd say in a fair state which is what you'd expect paying the prices they charge. Beds were fairly comfortable, we all slept well. One room was extremely hot but they provided fans. We walked into Torquay on both evenings which was a pleasant walk, if we needed somewhere to stay in Torquay again we would most definitely consider coming back.

Location and view are fantastic, facilities are good, there's no denying it's an old hotel and that comes with some quirks and even a few areas that are a bit rough round the edges but it's not advertised as the 5 star hotel it once was. So as a 4 star I'd recommend it to anyone, the staff and cleanliness of room couldn't be faulted!! My only real gripe / area that needs some more immediate attention is please get an EV charger or two!

We had a very pleasant stay at the Chesterfield. It is absolutely remarkable to see how the hosts put their whole heart into the guesthouse. We felt very looked after and their provided guest app was super helpful for restaurant & activity bookings. The guest app covers a whole lot of different topics including check in/check out, various recommendations (some even including discounts), safety and general information about the place etc. We visited quite a few restaurants/places recommended by the hosts and none of them did disappoint. We probably won’t be back anytime soon unfortunately but if we decide to visit Torquay again we will make sure to book with The Chesterfield! ☺️ Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
