Hotel berhampiran National Library of Malta, Valletta

Dont let the title fool you, I had an amazing time at SU29 and the hotel has wonderful staff, great location and great amenities; However one does have to wonder why the hotel has to continually bind itself to the 'boutique' hotel idea when a few simple adjustments could make it a much better experience for the guests. The open plan bathroom looks cool in the photos but imagine sleeping in the same room after taking a stinking dump? The rooms are beautifully decorated but lack any sort of storage space (no drawers, closets or hollowed spaces). Similarly, the table is chock full of items/amenities but that doesnt leave any space to open a laptop or even place a plate. Final short gripe is the lack of any sort of view in the junior studio. But as i said, in the end, my stay was actually defined by the always smiling, always helpful receptionists for whom none of my crazy asks or questions were too much! The breakfast was wonderful for a European city centre hotel with assortment of cakes, pancakes and fruits and was continuously stocked. The location was amazing as well but since the hotel is accessed through an inclined road with steps, it might be difficult to reach for some. The room had all the amenities you could ask for (kudos for the great coffee, AC and smart TV) and the wifi was flawless and quick! The hotel can easily hand out 5star experiences if only it decides to choose utility over aesthetics ...

Fantastic 5* hotel. From the reception staff to the concierge, the kitchen staff and housekeeping, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is beautiful and clean and just a 5 minute walk to the main road where all the shops are. The breakfast was fulfilling and we were spoilt for choice. Loved my stay here!

This hotel is part of the Accor Group and was a perfect location outside Valletta in the area of Msida. I arranged a transfer to and from the airport to the hotel that dropped and picked me on the corner where the hotel is located. I was welcomed by Laura at reception and offered a welcome drink as a Gold Accor member. I was also introduced to the manager also named Laura and given an overview of the hotel facilities and a map detailing the Malta area. After receiving my studio room key and entering the room it was very large and had a view out to the front street area from the balcony that had a table and two chairs. The room has a large kitchenette area with crockery , cutlery, glasses, saucepans and other cooking utensils. Two electric hot plates and a microwave oven and a small bar fridge with large complimentary bottles of sparkling and still water. Tea and coffee making facilities also in the kitchenette along with a sink for washing dishes and tea towel for drying. Another bench area below the television with two bar stools. Good size television on the wall and plenty of power points including USB charging throughout the room. A separate part of the main room had a two seater lounge and coffee table. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was large with a good shower and plenty of space around the bathroom sink to place items. Shaving mirror and power points. The towels were nice and fluffy and new and there was always plenty of hot water. A laundry room with two coin operated washers and two dryers is on site to do your own laundry if required. There is also a good gym on site. The rooftop pool has views over the surrounding areas and would be good for swimming or relaxing around in spring and summer. Breakfast is also available at the hotel but I did not avail of this. I did have dinner one evening at the recently re-opened bistro 77 (B77) restaurant on site and the meal and service was exceptional. The hotel is within walking distance of the marina area and for good walkers the old city area of Vallettta is about an hour walk away. A bus stop is located just around the corner further up the street that I utilised to go to Valletta one day and then continued on a connecting bus to Medina/Rabat. This hotel is exceptional in both service and facilities and if you don’t want to be right in Valletta but close enough by taxi/bus then this is definitely a good choice.

Perfect stay. Beautiful room, very spacious and had everything we needed. Was more like an apartment with fitted kitchen, small living area etc. was lovely to return to after a busy day, smart tvs so access to Netflix prime Disney etc. rooftop pool was stunning and although small, we always got a sun lounger and parasol. Very relaxing and stylish. We had family in the area so we had access to a car so cannot comment on the immediate area much. Short taxi ride to sliema or Valletta. Use bolt taxi app as cheaper than Uber (about €7) reception staff were lovely and really wanted to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. Very secure hotel. Small cafe in road facing hotel had best English breakfast and very friendly service would 100% recommend a visit. There is a bus stop round side of hotel and I believe Bugiba and mellieha bay are reachable from here, or bolt taxi €28 to ferry for blue lagoon comino island. All in all fantastic place at a brilliant price 😊

I will start by saying what a great hotel, a great location and the rooftop pool is a great little area. But the hotel staff are useless, We had paid for our trip in advance and paid for breakfast and upgraded to a room with a balcony and a view. I will note that we had 2 bookings 1 for the first night and a booking for the 3 following nights as we changed our travel plans due to flight costs and had a extra day.on arrival at 4pm ( check in is 3pm, we were told our room wasnt ready and we needed to pay, i told tge guy we had paid and had to get proof that i had, we were also told we hadnt booked breakfast or paid the upgrade again i had to find the proof, eventually all was sorted and we finally got into our room Next day we went down for breakfast and were refused entry as we ”hadnt paid” again we had to wait whilst it was checked, to then be allowed in. Later on that day we recieved a call to the room asking if the room was ok and do we need anything, we asked for a littpe milk for tea and within minutes it arrived, 10 minutes later the phone rang again and it was reception saying that we hadnt paid and if we dont go down straight away and pay it we have to leave. Again i had to go down and sort it.. finally all sorted... till departure, we werevthen told we hadnt paid the city tax, and even tho a trainee receotion lad said to the lady he was there when we paid it, she said if its not on the system we pay.. its only a few euros but its incompetence. The room itself is nice, spacious and comfy beds with a fantastic shower. The roof top pool is a great sun trap too.. Breakfast was nice, and lots of choice with real orange juice A good stay but ruined a bit by staff not doing there jobs

The bistro is very nice and elegant. The good attention at all times from the staff stands out, they are very cordial, helpful and always serve you with a smile on their face. Also in terms of food and drinks compared to other accommodations I visited in the same area, I notice that the level is higher, abundant and well served.

Starting with the information - we stayed at So City as a young couple (who arent particularly into nightclubs/bars) to see Matla for the first time over a week. I have given this a 'benefit-of-the-doubt' rating due to the hotel being incredibly new. We picked So City Hotel because of the value, it was incredibly well priced. I'd imagine this is a strategy due to it being so new but it was certainly well worth the price we paid. On to the hotel as a whole - I feel this is definitely aimed toward capturing people coming to Malta for some night life. Its positioned so that no more than 10 seconds from leaving the lobby, you can be in a bar, and their are some nice bars surrounding. That said, we werent there for that - but this location also meant that finding an evening meal, or a quick early night drink was incredibly easy. Exploring the island was also very easy from here, Valletta was a very short journey, and as we had opted to rent a car, there was a carpark about 5 minutes walk away (Pengardens) which is reasonably priced for over night parking, and we never struggled for a space. The room was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect and bedding very soft and comfortable. Our upgraded room was also incredibly spacious. The theming is a nice touch and makes the room a bit more characterful and individual. Staying on the 7th floor, there was minimal noise at night, altough id be concerned if we needed to keep the window open.... The black out curtains were also amazing for keep the room dark for a little bit of extra sleep. Constructive criticism for the room would be: The shower tempurture is difficult - the hottest setting is insanely hot (my other half loves hot showers but this was too much for her also) and it wouldnt go cold, just cooler, it also seemed to get colder through out the shower and you found yourself adjusting. There is not a lot of storage at all for longer stays. This is perhaps a by product of it feeling aimed towards 'nightlifers' who might stop 3 nights or so. I would perhaps ask reception for additional hangers if you have plenty of clothes for a longer stay. The mini fridge, altough useful, is not big enough to put larger water bottles in, which can be annoying. The aircon unit is situated in a place which means it blows directly at the bed. I tried to play with the control but there was no way to adjust it that I could find. Im trying to cool the room, not refridgerate myself. The timer on the aircon also didnt seem to work, so setting it the blow for 30 mins whilst i went to sleep just didnt seem to work. The TV is not a full smartTV which is a shame. Just channels and an internet browser, which are never nice to navigate around.... On to other notes: Breakfast is just what you need. Its not an all out buffett where there is everything you could dream of, but there is more than enough and a few items cycle so you can expect a slightly different breakfast each morning. When we arrived for check in we had problems with the booking as we was given the wrong room type by the supplier as we booked partial sea view room and we was checked into elegant non balcony room. The room was not what was expecting and we was disappointed and it ruined our stay at the hotel and the hotel was fully booked so we couldnt switch to the room we payed for. But we did get alot of help from Theo who worked in the reservations department. He tryed his best to accommodate us to the right room he was very friendly and polite and kept us updated all the time on the process, but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked, Though it wasent the hotels fault it was trip.com/expedia he offered breakfast for free during our whole stay at the hotel as a consultation for all the hassle during the stay. Trip.com did offer to reimburse the money we had lost paying for the pricer room type while we was staying in a lower cost room, but we was disappointed in the compensation trip.com offered us and this ruined our whole holiday. And apparently this has happened on many occasions to other guests so my suggestion is the definately call the hotel of your booking agency to confirm your room. Struttura nuova nulla da ridire in merito. Servizio : frigo bar VUOTOOO nemmeno una bottiglia d’acqua, kit cortesia bagno inesistente ☹️ciabattine neanche a parlarne. Se rimangono con questa politica misero, dopo aver preso una Camera Superior vista mare e pagato un botto, mi aspettavo qualche servizio in più. Colazione ottima.
