The hotel is decorated in a subtle art deco style and the bathroom was particularly well designed. Staff are very pleasant and seek to be helpful. Our room was spacious and light with a big comfortable bed, big pillows and lots of storage space. All the lights etc worked and the air conditioning is very effective. Bathrobes and slippers, tea, coffee and coffee machine and nice toiletries. Breakfast is in the Grana restaurant and you can order from the menu card either as the options are or mix and match / customise. Dinner can also be taken in this restaurant although be aware that it is a separate entity and dinners have to be paid for after dining and cannot be put on your room bill. It is a good menu and wine and drinks list. Our only issue was that we booked a specific table via reception and when we arrived that was the only occupied table in the restaurant. There were lots of apologies but that did not alter the error. Details are important.
Great pics ion just a couple of minutes from the bustle of the centre of Valletta. Just a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport. Really nicely done and spotlessly clean public areas. The staff were super friendly and service was always quick. Our room was a superior double with a balcony and hot tub. Really nice however just a little small for a 5 night stay but we didn’t spend too much time in the room to be fair. Nice coffee machine and amenities. Roof top area was amazing - great pool and plenty of loungers with shade. A nice selection of available too. Great views from here too. Breakfast was nice - buffet and hot options. Again efficient and friendly service. The breakfast room is in the basement so felt a little gloomy at times. All in all a great start in Valletta. I’d stay here again and recommend it!
The reason I am rating this lower is for one thing: not enough hot water for more than a 2 minute shower. Seriously. I timed it. I even woke up one morning at 4:30 AM, thinking I would beat everyone else. Nope. This is a developed country in Europe, there is no excuse for insufficient hot water. Minor complaint: The shower grout was filled with black stuff that was either mold or missing grout. I wasn't getting close enough to find out. Internet speed was around 20, but it would randomly shut off at least once a day. Would be a pain if you were in a work meeting. Hotel itself is in a good location. You're within a 5-10 minute walk of great restaurants. Also 8-10 minutes from the bus station. Bed was OK. There was only one pillow and it wasn't that soft. Towels were usually slightly damp, likely from hang drying. They were big though. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion provided but they are teeny tiny bottles. Breakfast was good. Selection of hot and cold food. The staff was exceptionally friendly and always helpful!! I want to move up to a 3.5/5 just for the staff.

This is very well located, they had a little closet to keep our bags until we checked in at 1500 and then we where also avail to use it after we checked out while we got breakfast before heading to the airport. The apartment had a small potable AC that tried its best but the Malta heat can be a lot, when we asked for a fan they where very quick. They responded super fast to any questions we had and spoke the language. I didn’t catch the female workers name but she was super sweet and accommodating. She said she was from Colombia . Overall I would stay here again but it’s definitely a place to crash in between activities. Keep your expectations low and you’ll enjoy it.
What a wonderful hotel! We booked the penthouse to get the balcony and it was faultless - huge comfy bed, huge balcony with sunloungers and chairs, a little kitchenette and a fab bathroom with lovely, powerful, hot shower. Air con super effective! All staff at the hotel are very helpful and friendly and speak good English. The complementary breakfast is brilliant - pastry and bread selections, meats and cheese, local dips, granola and yoghurt pots and freah smoothies of the day. Hot drinks are free all day, as is filtered water. Every day between 6 and 9, the roof terrace opens and there are complementary drinks (red and white wine, cisc lager, coke, sprite and Kinnie) - the views from the terrace are fab and it's a great spot to watch the sunset. The hotel is beautifully maintained and furnished and is in a lovely, quiet spot but is literally 5 mins walk to Strait Street etc for bars and restaurants and less than 10 mins walk to all main sightseeing spots such as the Co-cathedral, St Elmos Fort and War Museum, Upper Barrakka Gardens and the gun salute. Would highly recommend and would definitely visit again!
Located on St. Paul Street the hotel is very close to the main streets of Valletta, shops, cafes and restaurants. Our arrival in reception comprised a warm welcome, easy registration and speedy transfer to our room. We stayed for seven nights in a deluxe double room on the fourth floor. Very quiet corner of the hotel in a good size room with comfortable and large double bed, great pillows, sofa, coffee table, desk, fridge, safe and TV. Open wardrobe hanging space with two drawers below, robes and slippers. Helpful to have more clothes hangers and maybe a narrow tallboy with more drawers could be added. Complimentary tea and coffee making items and a large carafe of water replenished everyday. Good size bathroom with a spacious walk in shower and plentiful towels and toiletries. Thank you to the hotel team for the welcome birthday display for my wife. Breakfast in a light, bright dining room next to the hotel bar offers a small buffet but extensive call order service. More than enough choice to start the day and thanks to Madelene, Prakash and the trainees who make it all work so well. There is a room service menu in the room. There is a narrow swimming pool on the roof, bar and sun beds with wonderful views out over the harbour and the town and is a real sun trap although it can get windy on some days. Still a great place to relax in between exploring the island. The basement area accommodates a sauna (book at reception), gym. and another small and warm pool which doubles as a jacuzzi. Housekeeping throughout is of a very high standard and all of the staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Special thank you to Raisa on reception for her guidance and lovely warm smile. Plenty to do in Valletta with the rich history, churches and cathedrals we enjoyed the ferry to the 3 cities and the Malta War Museum. Find time to seek out the hidden parks which are a real delight, great views and cool and quiet on hot days. Most of the larger boat trips seem to go from Sliema which you cross to by ferry but it is very commercialised. We enjoyed superb dining experiences at Rubino (Old Bakery Street), Nenu The Artisan Baker (St. Dominic Street) and D'Office (Archbishop Street). Great lasagne at Luciano (Merchant Street) and fascinating pasta experience at Pastaus (Old Theatre Street). Delighted to be in Malta again after more than forty years and top marks to all at the Gomerino for making our stay so comfortable.
Everything! The location is great, room is perfect, they even have netflix. Bathroom very luxurious with L'Occitane products and Porcelanosa stuff. People complain about the entrance. I don t understand why, there is a big flag on the building with the hotel name on it and also it is written at the entranced it s true that u have to go thru Starbucks, but that is event better cause it s a good reference point. They give u breakfast in the room (from Starbucks )you will find a flyer in the room and you choose from the options they give u. They provide slippers, maybe u need to ask for it. They have iron in the room and also ironing table. They give u a bottle of water from the house and a complimentary drink from starbucks. The hotel doesn t have a reception, just a small desk with a pc and there is an announcment with the phone number, but the guys from starbucks will help u. They came everyday to clean and change the towels. Overall, the location is perfect, room was great, breakfast was good. Nothing to complain, really. If I ever go back to Malta, i will for sure choose this one again❤️
Domus Zamittello is a city hotel but offers tranquillity. The staff are friendly and attentive. All details that make a visitor's stay pleasant and enjoyable are taken care of effortlessly. Nothing was too much problem for the team. There seems to be a culture amongst all of the staff that they are part of a well oiled machine with each part as important as the next, providing excellent customer service. Breakfast offered plenty of choice with freshly juiced oranges, fresh fruit salad and yoghurt, as well as a range of cooked options, again freshly prepared. This is the first place that we have ever stayed at where the General Manager makes a point of meeting his customers each day. This is a place that we would return to on another trip to Malta and have also recommended friends to do so.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Barrister Hotel, and would return when travelling to Valletta. It is a simple comfortable hotel, perfectly located centrally, but in a quiet street. The rooms were very comfortable (we slept really well), and the owner was always on hand at breakfast to talk to and provide advice. Would not need anything more for a great stay in Valletta. We had a room with a small balcony, great to sit outside late afternoon. There is a room with a larger balcony which we would consider on a future visit. Definatley worth staying at.

We had a fabulous stay in this lovely boutique hotel. Perfectly positioned in old Valetta, the building has been beautifully refurbished to provide the utmost comfort whilst retaining it's charm. The Staff are all wonderful and very attentive, even bringing my husband a birthday cake at breakfast on his special day! The facilities and spa are also spot on. Breakfasts are delicious with a choice of cereal, bread, fruit, meats and cheeses plus you can have something freshly prepared from the A La Carte Menu. There are loads of amazing restaurants within easy walking distance (recommend 59 Republic, Trabuxu and The Ortygia). Don't bother with hiring a car: it's really easy to use the Bolt Taxis and they are also very reasonably priced. I thoroughly recommend this as a gorgeous place to stay!
We have just got back from 4 days in Malta's fine capital, Valletta and have stayed in some great boutique hotels when visiting cities. The 66 Saint Paul's is another example. Each of the signature rooms has been thoughtfully and carefully curated. We stayed in the Penthouse suite for 4 nights and this offered a stunning view over the harbour to the 3 cities opposite, bathed in sunshine throughout the day and with our own sun deck. Each step on to it felt like walking into a postcard. My wife also enjoyed the shared pool area which was clean and well serviced. The building itself is about 400 years old so you instantly feel connected to the city. You soon notice almost all buildings on the Maltese islands are built of the signature local limestone. The splendid and centuries old Palazzo Santa Sofia rubs shoulders with the many baroque churches, centuries old dwellings, and also some surprising modern designs too, in a beautiful compliment across the skyline, much unlike the sometimes garish contrasts in capitals further north. Although the food was very good and all fresh, do note that like a lot of city hotels there is no dining option at the 66 St Paul’s after breakfast. However, location is everything and, once oriented to the harbour and the De Valette monument, you are literally a minute away from Merchants Street and Republic Street, the two main public thoroughfares linking the shops, sites and many eateries. The sloping alleyways linking these to St Paul Street come alive after sunset and are transformed into an array of bars and restaurants, with more lining the length of Merchants Street each night. I can't imagine eating in anywhere near half of them, but we found plenty of choice and good meals for less than 20 euros per head each night with recommendations available from the hotel too. The great location of the 66 Saint Paul's extends in every direction with easy access to the harbour (we caught a water taxi to the 3 cities for a look around, totally recommended), the various gardens, museums and also the must-see-and-hear Saluting Battery each day at noon. We were also able to link up easily with a very good walking tour and had to wait no more than a few minutes for our collections, taxis and Ubers. A trip to Mdina and the catacombs to learn more about Malta's fascinating history is also worth the time and effort. Our biggest thanks, along with the weather, are for the small team that kept things running for the 15 rooms. The housekeeping was reliable and thorough and each one of the staff that helped at reception and breakfast was, like everyone we met in Malta, friendly and polite. We really enjoyed our first visit to Malta, in part to the cheerful and generous nature of the people and the warm reception from the city of Valetta. I must totally recommend a visit.
PPengguna TetamuThe Phoenicia tries very hard. And the truth is they mostly succeed. But when you bill yourself as the best hotel in Malta (or one of them, at least) it's the details that are what entitle you to claim you're more than just ”very good” but really are ”the best.” And the Phoenicia sometimes overlooks the small details that characterize a true 5-star property. The Hits The staff: They do everything in their power to make one's stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. Their attitude is genuine and sincere. And they bend over backwards to accommodate, no matter the situation or the request. The location: Simply the best on the entire island, just outside the gate to Valletta, near the bus terminal, the main square and fountain, pedestrian friendly, you can walk everywhere. The grounds: Beautifully landscaped gardens that are a joy to amble through, magnificent pool, lovely terrace, stunning views over the marina. The common areas: Lobby, restaurant, bars...all are tastefully appointed and comfortable. The Misses The food: The meals we had were all very mediocre, nothing special. We were expecting a 5-star dining experience and were very disappointed. Breakfast is a bit of a madhouse. The menus (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are limited and what's offered is fairly pedestrian. The restaurant servers seemed harried (breakfast) and not very polished (dinner.) The room: Cramped, tiny, and in need of renovation. I booked through Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts, was not upgraded even though hotel was not full. I asked...no upgrade. The Club Bar: Although open it wasn't staffed...at all. Had to physically go find someone (in the adjoining restaurant) to come and make us drinks, then carried them ourselves to our table...and bussed our dirty glasses ourselves when finished. Unacceptable in the extreme. It's these serious missteps that keep the Phoenicia more of a 3 to 4 star property...although they try really hard. I would give it another chance if I were to return.
YYuwenTotally beyond my expectation!! From the smiley face welcoming us when we first walked in to the home made turndown macarons to the breakfast (the chef even peeled the tomato skin!); everything impressed me. We stayed two nights in the Casa and it is my first time staying in the Valetta. The hotel focuses on service details!!
Superb location - 10 to 15 mins walk to the bus terminal/ upper and lower Barrakka garden/ the ferry pier with easy access to bars, restaurants, and shops. The building itself is historical and we love the design of the room. The big in-room safe provides extra secure.
But what I love the most is the team. Everyone at the reception and during breakfast service has been super amazing. Special thanks to Peter who performed the room orientation upon check-in, Matthew who assisted me with luggage and escorted me to the uber pick up point upon departure, the pretty lady Sladjana with a big smile and endless jokes that made my day, and Renniel who helped fix the issue of the basin stopper.
Highly recommend Casa Ellul to everyone. Dont miss the wonderful breakfast in the morning!
We booked two rooms here for my husband and myself and my son and his girlfriend. The rooms themselves are large, spotlessly clean and just awesome to look at. Free bottled water - sparking and still were provided, a microwave, stocked mini bar and a large en-suite for two. (A complimentary Bottle of wine a 2 glasses were also in situ when we arrived!!) - Coffee maker, coffee pods and a variety of teas were all complimentary. Our view was of the church bells which rang in our Christmas, our mornings and were a joy to listen to. (If you really don't like church bells then, Valletta with all of it's churches enthusiastically ringing throughout the day and into the evening is not for you). In the night the stained glass windows lit up and looked magical. A continental breakfast is served every morning and can be brought to your room if like me you prefer to remain in bed, nibbling. What made this stay even better were the truly attentive staff. They bought us little boxes of gifts throughout our stay. Sweets and biscuits. We even got hot neck pillows we could heat up in the microwave, when cooled down, their attention to detail was second to none. When I travel I rarely stay in hotels as I like to be independent. This was a wonderful compromise. The hotel is staffed until 6pm. You have a code for your door and come and go as you please. When needing information or taxi bookings staff were happy to help. There was even a complimentary trip arranged for all hotel guests who wanted to spend the day sightseeing. I cannot compliment this hotel enough. I've been home a week and my family are still talking about it. This hotel is an absolute gold standard and for the first time in my 50 years I have absolutely no complaints.
PPengguna TetamuOverall I would recommend it, though there were elements of gasliging when someone entered my room and used some anti-asthmatic enhailer that bothered me a lot when I was back to my room. The hotel management accommodated my complain and changed the room.
My wife and I had the privalege of staying 3 nights at this luxury hotel if we could award this hotel six stars we would gladly do so. From the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly by both Amol and Rose. They presented us with a welcome glass of prosecco. In fact, everyone front of house couldn’t do enough for us. Before we even arrived at the hotel we received a warm introductory email from Dahy. Shout out also to Tom, who was truly helpful. Service was exceptional from everyone, including the unsung heroes of housekeeping such as Arun. Our Superior room was super clean and contained thoughtful touches like a soap menu. Now that’s luxury! As for the food, under the stewardship of chef maestro Victor Borg, it was sublime. We were blown awsy by the quality and inventiveness of the dishes. The restaurant service was perfect - big thanks to: Katho, Maridol and Rohit. They were so professional and helpful. Breakfast here is beyond decadent. We feel we have found our new home in Malta. This hotel is perfectly located and sets the bar for personal service.
HHeppjacSmooth check-in process having uploaded passport details prior. Very friendly staff who took us to our room explained breakfast, mini bar, safe, wifi, door codes etc. Room 104 street view with balcony, spacious bathroom & walk in closet & AC. Lovely comfortable bed, spare pillows & duvet. Breakfast on roof top was plentiful, with amazing. Must mention Alesandro on internship from his school in Italy who was very knowledgable on the Maltese breakfast dishes & spoke fantastic English & an alround delight to talk to in general. Also the Manager took time to chat about the history of the building, which was ineresting. Location was perfect for us, amazing restaurants & live music bars in the vicinty. We loved Valletta & will definately return ❤️
FFrancisco Magalhães SantosMy google maps review was 5 stars
”I had been in this hotel a few days, the overall experience was very good.
All the staff was very friendly, ensured that we got a nice room, the room is big than average hotels and all new. The breakfast is tasty and prepared in the moment.
Most probably if I return to Malta will check this hotel again, because was a nice experience”
PPengguna TetamuMy wife and I stayed only one night on the occasion of our anniversary. The room was spacious, with a nice view from the balcony, equipped with all the necessary comforts (there was even an iron and ironing board). The staff was very nice and gave us some tourist information. Very close to the main street. Very good quality/price ratio. Highly recommended.
