We first stayed at the Mongomery Inn in 2015, and were delighted to return in 2022! Pam is a wonderful hostess! She is the perfect balance of laid back and attentive. She has fun stories to share and can chat about almost any topic, while at the same time, gives guests space and freedom to enjoy their stays in their own ways. Sadie, the gentle and friendly goldendoodle, is a welcome addition since our previous visit. She greeted us at check-in, and gives the inn a fun, homey feel. The rooms we stayed in both times were quiet, spacious and had everything we want when traveling. We like rooms with a lot of lighting, sitting chairs, and a lot of surfaces to put things on, The rooms have all of that: - They are well-lit with options for overhead lights, a variety of lamps, brightly lit bathrooms, and natural light. We didn't struggle to have enough light, like we do in hotel rooms. - The sitting areas are awesome, and the televisions have complimentary Hulu and Netflix, or you can stream using your own service or cast from a mobile device. We didn't struggle for a place to sit and visit comfortably in our room with another couple whom we traveled with, like we do in hotel rooms. - There are a variety of tables and shelves on which to put things to organize the room and settle right it. We didn't struggle to keep our belongings off the floor, like we do in hotel rooms. Breakfast is efficient, creative and varies each day - the best we've had and any inn! Coffee is avaialble early and there are a lot of other beverage selections. By nature, people who stay at inns are low-maintenance guests. If not, they should be! We don't need fresh towels every day, don't need our room made up every day, and do everything we can to not be a bother or burden to the hostess. We joke that all we need are the three T's: "Towels" - a couple for a week will do, "TP" - plenty of rolls, and "TrasH" - emptied regularly or a bin available for us to take it out ourselves and fresh trash bags. That's part of the charm of staying at an inn - it's like home. All inns have their quirks and flaws. If you are going to nit-pick everything - a loose toilet seat, a burned-out light bulb, cracked or missing tiles, drips of paint, etc., don't stay here. But you will miss out on a great experience! Our only complaint is that the beds aren't very comfortable. The bedding itself is great, but an investment in quality mattresses would be a welcome improvement in the future. We will always stay with Pam when we visit the Lexington area or going anywhere 30-40 minutes from Versailles. If you want a departure from the mundane, tired, stale hotels, we hightly recommend the Montgomery Inn!
