Hotel 2 Bintang di Washington D.C.

Had a fab time staying at this hostel. Met some great new people and enjoyed seeing the city together. Location is excellent to see downtown DC. I travelled in and out of Union Station on foot (40 min walk) and felt safe. My dorm was fine. Simple but comfy bunk, locker for my gear (bring a lock) and easy access to shared bathrooms. Wifi in my dorm was non-existent but it worked great in the reception and just sitting on the brownstone stoop outside. Communal breakfast was simple, fresh cooked choc chip pancakes and coffee (all I needed) and all the prep areas you need if you wanna fetch your own food (great cheap supermarket next door). Lots of nice people to chat to on the days I stayed. Nice outdoor terrace to eat too.

I wanted to love this place! If I were in my 20's, I'm sure I would have but now that im in my 40s and have gotten used to staying in ”real” hotels...this place just wasn't cutting it :-( It's in a beautiful building on the corner. Lots of restaurants that are walkable. The door to the building is always locked which is great. You need your key card to get in. Check-in was easy. FYI, everyone in your party that wants a key will need to provide ID. I booked Hotel room 305 (private 3rd floor walk-up). I knew going into it that it was going to be small and that it would require climbing a ladder to get up to 2 of the beds. I just wasn't quite prepared for just how small and just how steep the ladder would be! My 70 year old dad slept on the lower bed. My husband, my 9 year old son and I slept on the loft. Its VERY low up there! My poor husband (6ft) literally couldn't stand when he was up there! The ladder is a little scary. It only has a handle on both sides for the upper half and like I said its very steep so you really gotta heave yourself up there haha. It was super annoying if you had to use the bathroom during the night. It was like sleeping on the world's highest bunk bed. The bathroom was like a lot of European bathrooms where the toilet and the shower are all just together in one tiled room, no lip for separation. There is a shower curtain, but it doesn't really do much to contain the water. The sink to wash your hands is outside of the bathroom. The common areas downstairs were cute. A few big refrigerators to store your food and they provide labels. I've stayed in many hostels in my life and this was definitely a nice one but if you are like me and have gotten used to regular hotel rooms, just bite the bullet and spend the money! If you are in your 20's then go for it! :-)

The staff was kind and courteous. the room was clean but infested with inch worms. Must upgrade the toilets. Clog easily. The free Breakfast area was fine. They should build a ramp for luggage because the entrance has stairs.

One of the worst stays I have ever had. The hotel was disgusting and I couldn’t tell when it was last cleaned. The towels in our room had holes in - I’m not sure what is worse, that these huge holes weren’t noticed or they were and the staff thought it was still appropriate to put them in our room. The bed sheets also had concerning stains on them. The shower fixing was barely attached to the wall, making it very difficult to use. Half of the dials on the shower didn’t work either. There was a horrible smell throughout the hotel too, possibly from cleaning products but I would be surprised if they actually used any. Also, the window was a single pane, so the room was very loud and sleeping was very difficult. Lastly, the view out of the window was a brick wall approximately 30 cm away. Not having a good view wasn’t an issue, but it made the room so dark and depressing. We left the hotel a day early and the staff were not helpful regarding a refund, which we feel is only fair. Avoid at all costs, there are much nicer hotels closer to the city centre for much better prices.

Hotel is at a generally good enough location. It is very near Van Ness-UDC line which connects us to the central of DC. Quiet place that suits what we need. A good rest. There isn’t much amenities in the hotel but good enough.

The location is a little further from the downtown. But getting there and back is very convenient. Literally one bus. The room is beautiful, clean, unusual in size. The beds are very comfortable and wide. The sheet is clean and white and smells fresh. The bathroom is not big. There is shampoo, soap, several sets of towels. There is a TV in the room and fast wi-fi. Sleep quality is excellent

Overall, the hotel is good and not too far from the center. It's a bit complicated to get through metro but otherwise the service is warm and kind.

Ivy City Hotel was very clean. Its right on a busy main road, but it is easily assessable, if that makes any sense. The room smelled like **** (its legal), but was easily covered up by a lit candle. It easy very calm all throughout the day/night , especially for DC and the characters that come and go. All in all, its a good place to lay your head when you stay.
