Wayanad Silver Woods Hotel

The hotel was unbeknown to us, under some renovations when we arrived. There was a temporary reception that was welcoming with courteous staff. They kindly told us our room had been upgraded. A short cart ride later and we are shown our room. Disappointedly it smelt of damp and our dam view was obscured by trees, which is of course acceptable in this natural environment. Things got worse from here. Because of the renovations the main restaurant wasn’t open. The temporary restaurant was impersonal and lacked ambience. We were initially served hot drinking water and the menu was limited. The final straw was the only soft drink available was coke. That was it. A chat with the F&B manager and nothing changed on the F&B front, but he did very kindly get our room upgraded to a lovely room with wonderful view. Breakfast was quite frankly a joke. Strawberry milkshake, a choice of cereals that were read out to us, a choice of egg and some chopped up fruit. Just to add, there was just one other couple that we could see staying at the hotel. The final insult was on check out. We were given a “pass” to exit security after they had checked our room. The manager did his best to make our stay more pleasurable to be fair. Apparently the refurbishment is because they are going to be 5 star. Good luck with that.

The resort is beautifully located, among a lush green wooded area next to a lake. It is also conveniently located close to several tourist spots. The villas themselves are spacious, clean, aesthetically done. Ours had a sit out with a gorgeous view of the lake during the day and a sky full of stars at night. The staff was friendly and helpful. I must especially commend and thank the kitchen and restaurant staff and Chef Pramod, who very kindly humoured our requests for local cuisine. We mostly stuck to non-vegetarain fare whether from the buffet or a-la-carte, and it was delicious. The prawn Tawayillathu Chuttathu and Achayans chicken curry were especially good. While we were there, there was a magician who would come by during dinner and entertain kids with his tricks. In the mornings. there was a potter who would teach you how to use a potter's wheel to make tiny clay pots, which you could carry back as a souvenier. We faced slight niggles, such as the safe in our room wouldn't open but the staff had that quickly sorted. Then the handheld bidet started leaking. Thankfully, housekeeping could take care of it immediately even though it was nighttime. Just a few suggestions: 1. Since Silverwoods is a luxury resort, I did feel that the selection of complementary teas and coffees could have been better. 2. It would be helpful if there was an informational leaflet in the villa about how to operate the jacuzzi/where the main switch is located. 3. Warming trays at the buffet, since some times the food temperature didn't do justice to the preparation. We, unfortunately, had to check-out sooner than planned due to personal reasons, but we hope to come back for a quiet vacation at Silverwoods Resort again.

Super Resort with Lake View.. We stayed here in presidential suite for 2 nights. I must say that the resort is very beautiful. Wee got lake view from our rooms. Best thing was the beauty of resort and location. Service was good but not exceptional. Met the expectation. Food needs improvement though if one is non veg then would not find any issue. For veg one has to struggle. Wayanad is overall a beautiful place and this resort gave us memorable stay
