We were visiting family in the area for the weekend, so I booked 2 nights here. It was my first time staying at a Premier Inn. The price was excellent value - especially with free parking. The room easily slept 3. The beds were comfortable - especially the famous pillows, so I had a great sleep. It was also very quiet - despite being close to the railway line. We weren't disturbed by noise at all. The room was clean and simple. There were a few scuff marks here and there, but nothing too bad, and for the price, you can't really complain. However, we paid for breakfast and it was very disappointing. There were no pastries at all on Day 2. The waitress did apologise, but it wasn't really acceptable when you have pre-paid. The kitchen was small, and the chefs were struggling to keep up with demand. There were waits for food, and on Day 2, I don't think the eggs were booked enough. Juice wasn't fresh or replenished quickly and the selection was poor. Other guests were saying the same. I was disappointed that no refund was offered, because it really wasn't up to standard. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the first evening after a long journey, and that was also very disappointing. There was a limited menu, and the food was poor. I'm pretty sure my curry was just microwaved, and the burgers looked anaemic. They didn't come with onion rings as per the menu, and the chips were lukewarm. Pudding was good. Service was very slow and inattentive, and customer service in the restaurant was generally poor.
