元月四日，晚上一場宴會後，獨自走回酒店，突然感到淅瀝的雨滴打落頭頂。原本是等一場大雪，卻等來了一場夜雨。 在走入秋果酒店門口的一剎那，驀地想起門前的桂花樹與烏桕樹。桂花樹依舊青翠，可是沒有了沁人心脾的香氣，誰還注意它們呢。一樹梧桐在路燈的暈黃裏，色彩迷幻而斑斕，我又驚奇，為什麼梧桐葉到這時候還是這樣密。而烏桕樹幾乎全脱光了葉子，就衹剩下輪廓。與外邊的寂寥相比，酒店的前台卻有種擁擠，一羣人圍在前台在check in，前台的先生低頭忙碌着。我看過去，沒有了長期奔波的哪種“人生如逆旅，我亦是行人”的漂泊感，而是“今夜是行人，風雨歸秋果”的安寧。在電梯上，我幾乎要與他們寒暄幾句，可是大家都急迫地分次離開電梯，入住自己的房間了！ 今夜，似乎衹有夜雨還不停息。
