Girraween Environmental Lodge

I booked in for a 2 night mid-week stay and quickly realised that wasn't nearly enough and extended my stay. I was in a 1 bedroom chalet (no.7) in a great location-very close to the outdoor spa and pools and yet nicely secluded in the bush allowing me to get the full effect of nature and the peace it brings. The neighbouring chalet was close enough for friends/family who may also be staying but far enough away for strangers. The other chalets weren't easily visible at all.The chalet itself was very comfortable and well stocked. There were a few highlights for me-firstly looking out the kitchen window making my morning cuppa to see a foraging kangaroo less than a metre away.Secondly, sitting on the deck and watching the bower bird,butcher birds and magpies while listening to their beautiful songs.Then, the brushtail possum with a joey on her back scrambling down from the roof at dusk to hide underneath the deck!The bed was comfy and warm and I never felt cold at any time although it was winter. The grounds are fun to explore with so many friendly, grazing kangaroos everywhere-I stopped taking photos after the first 20! i didn't try to at any of them as they appear to be wild but I never once felt at risk. I took an easy stroll over to look at the goats and deer in their enclosure and also enjoyed watching the chickens,rooster(which I never heard crow),guinea fowl,geese and ducks that wander freely around outside in the yard near the reception area. I could have fed the goats at 8:30 in the morning but decided to choose sleep ins that I don't usually get in my busy life. The walks on the property are an added bonus-on private property and with beautiful scenery.I walked to the Rock Pools and to Ramsay's Rest which has a picnic table in a little clearing next to a creek-not far at all from the entrance. No noise other than nature and your own thoughts-no planes,traffic,sirens,alarms and no pings on your phone.Due to the lack of phone reception, Bengu offered me the radio walkie-talkies which is a great idea.Don't forget to take a camera with you. There were many other walks available that were more challenging and no doubt also scenic. It was great to have a carport for parking my car directly at the end of the chalet.I would walk up to the reception area each morning to check for messages and emails on my phone but would advise driving if you plan to go in the dark as country/bush darkness is absolute and the roads through the the lodge grounds are dirt and bumpy. Speaking of the darkness-take advantage of the outdoor spa star gazing-just remember to book a time when it will be dark enough.The stars are spectacular with no light pollution getting in the way. Bengu was always cheerful,helpful and available and although she must have explained everything a thousand times to new guests over the years, she has a way of making you feel like you're the first and only one and special! I will definitely be back.

We love staying at Girraween Environmental Lodge! Cabin was so cozy and clean. Our daughter adored feeding the deer in the mornings. The owners are just beautiful; kind and very helpful. The walks from the property were all suitable for our 6 year old. We will be back!

If you're looking for the perfect place for some R&R, to reconnect with family, be amongst the magic of nature and/or hike some amazing trails this place is a must place to visit! Our stay started with the most hospitable and informative welcome having us excited to get to our lodge which was to the coziest, most well appointed accommodation. The attention to detail was phenomenal....the thought gone into equipping each and every space was amazingly. Beds were super comfy, with bedrooms so roomy. Bathroom was so spacious with a roomy spa bath to enjoy. The kitchen left you needing nothing else and was a great space to prepare meals....which you will want to do, as if like us, you wouldn't want to leave to eat out! Home-made meals, nice glass of wine on the comfy couch, sitting by the fire in the coziest of settings was fantastic! Our family loved our time here and with no wi-fi it meant that we got to share some much needed family time. And we all loved our heated outdoor spa time under the stars. What a treat! We did not want to leave but we know we will definitely be back. These hosts sure know how to ensure their guests are provided with every little thing that will guarantee a memorable experience.

Have had an amazing few days. The lodges are very lovely. Great walking on your doorstep. Beds super comfortable/snuggly. The owners went above and beyond to help us out which was very much appreciated. We all loved the deers and animals too.

B and Paul are amazing and so accommodating So peaceful and tidy We love it here and have been coming for years The deer and the wildlife are beautiful. The spa under the stars is lovely and the private walks around the accommodation are spectacular especially the rock pools and giants marbles.😊😍

We’ve just returned from a wonderful holiday, staying at Girraween Environmental Lodge. The chalet was well equipped and comfortably set amongst the trees. Wildlife abounded and seemed as happy as we were, with most kargaroos sporting joeys in their pouches. The property has 10 km of bush walking tracking which were a little more adventurous than those in the national park, next door. Other attractions situated close by included vineyards, Wallangarra, Stanthorpe, the Stanthorpe Cheese Factory, Suttons Apple Cidery and the very popular Heavenly Chocolates, to which we migrated daily for hot chocolates or coffee after a vigorous walk. The managers Bengu and Paul went out of their way to welcome us, to answer all our queries and even gave us free eggs from their free-range chickens and ducks! I heartily recommend this venue. What a beautiful place. The chalet is a really nice option for people who want to get away and be in nature without losing out on the creature comforts of a shower, bed, and coffee! I’m not a camper so this fit for us perfectly. It was kind of nice to be without cell service. It “forced” me to read a book I’d been meaning to finish. The couple who run the resort are very lovely as well.

Great holiday with three families at girraween. Nice walks around the property and very short drive to the national park. Had fun spas at night. Pool was freezing but kids still got in. Cabins were clean and all close to each other so kids could walk and ride bikes between. Highly recommend

Every year my husband and I stay at At he Girraween Environmental Lodge to experience the peace and tranquility of this lovely place. The hosts, Paul and Bengu are very welcoming and helpful and the chalets are spacious, cozy and comfortable with a great log fire. the property has its own marked walking trails where guests can see plenty of wildlife and experience great views.
