The light breakfast was just perfect and very gentle on the stomach. The staff here are also incredibly kind and provided thoughtful, attentive assistance. The breakfast spread was extensive, and the courtyard is beautiful. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Gulangyu! The surroundings are very peaceful, and the hotel's service and facilities are top-notch. We had a really comfortable stay and slept like babies. A major plus is its location: nestled halfway up the mountain, yet still right in the heart of the island. It's just an 8-minute walk to Sunlight Rock and about 15 minutes to Bagua Building – both are very close and incredibly convenient. Highly recommend!

The room was a good size and had a lovely vintage aesthetic. I particularly want to commend the wonderful staff. They were incredibly prompt in their responses, always patient, and helpful with every query. Both the male and female staff were exceptionally kind and attentive. It truly demonstrates the 'you get what you pay for' principle; a slightly pricier hotel certainly justifies its cost. This extended to the breakfast staff too, who provided excellent service, showing great patience, kindness, and thoughtfulness. The hotel's location is also a plus; it's right next to the trendy 'Red Pig' restaurant, and Bishan Cave is just a short distance away. Walking through the tunnel brings you close to Fanpo Building. So, it's very close to the bustling downtown area on foot, but since the hotel is in a residential neighborhood, it's pleasantly quiet at night. Overall, I had a fantastic stay. I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5, with most of that score undoubtedly going to the incredible staff! 😘

Anyone who's visited Gulangyu knows how intricate the island's paths can be and how steep the stone steps are. However, this hotel, with its charming Southern French romantic style, is surprisingly easy to locate and the route to it is quite manageable, which is a big convenience for guests with luggage. The butler was incredibly welcoming and the service was very thoughtful. We particularly enjoyed their homemade iced plum drink, which was absolutely delicious. It seems that all the 'Linggan' series hotels on the island are top-notch and are definitely worth recommending.

The hotel is conveniently located near Neicuo'ao Pier, though be prepared for an uphill walk to get there. Fortunately, they offer a paid shuttle service. The front desk service was exceptionally attentive and thoughtful; they not only offered complimentary tea and snacks but also meticulously explained all the room's amenities, which saved us from asking numerous questions. The hotel features a charming European-style courtyard, and the rooms are tastefully decorated. They even provide heated eye masks and earplugs, a nice touch to ensure a peaceful night's sleep. Breakfast is a set menu, well-balanced and nutritious. Overall, the hotel offers superb value for money, especially for Gulangyu Island.

## Jimo Hillside B&B | A Secluded Paradise on Gulangyu's Hillside, Bursting with Fruit Scents and Peaceful Bliss. Far from Gulangyu's bustling ferry terminal and coastline, Jimo Hillside B&B feels like a secret haven gently preserved by time. The standalone vintage villa nestles quietly on the hillside. The moment you push open the courtyard gate, it's as if you've stepped into a fairytale – the dense shade of the **longan trees** provides a cool retreat, and the **lychee trees** in high summer are even more generous. In the early mornings, you can always pick up dew-kissed fruits from the stone path; bite into one, and it's so sweet it feels like living in a pastoral poem. The room's **small balcony** directly faces the mountain views. In the afternoon, brew a pot of tea and watch the sunlight filter through the leaves, breaking into golden specks. The most pleasant surprise was the **excellent soundproofing**; even if cicadas chirped like waves outside the window, once the door closed, only the mountain breeze and silence remained. The guesthouse's breakfast was also prepared with heartfelt effort. The landlady's handmade Minnan-style congee and snacks, paired with freshly picked longans, made for a perfect start to the day. If you wish to escape the crowds and find a tranquil retreat on Gulangyu—a place that lives up to the poetic ideal of 'dwelling amidst humanity, yet free from the clamor of carriages and horses'—Jimo Hillside's lychee trees, old villa, and the dappled light throughout its courtyard will etch your most tender travel memories.

My stay at the hotel was excellent, largely due to the incredibly kind and helpful staff. Although I don't speak Chinese, they went out of their way to communicate with me and provide assistance using WeChat's translation tool. My queen-size room with a balcony was not only spacious, neat, and tidy, but also perfectly air-conditioned, which was a huge comfort with the outside temperature reaching 37°C (or 98.6°F). The Chinese set menu for breakfast was a tasty and not too heavy. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here

We were warmly welcomed and well looked after. The hotel is beautiful but the staff even more so The hotel is clean quiet and very comfortable. The breakfast was substantial and varied and presented in a Japanese style. My husband is vegetarian and they catered for his needs too.

Lovely hotel, really modern amenities. Courtyard is a lovely space to chill. Cooked Chinese breakfast was really delicious.
