We booked the hotel (rather late in the day) as part of an Inntravel package - and only then read some of the negative reviews here. Our experience of the hotel brought us to an opposite conclusion. The location on the edge of the small town of Yaiza is not remote, but quiet and tranquil, and only a relatively short drive to the southernmost beaches and resorts, rugged coastal path, or in other directions, the amazing Timanfaya National Park. The room we had was next to the pool (very cold, but invigorating!), and was clean, spacious, and had a great shower and a very comfortable bed. It was cleaned daily, and the only improvement we would suggest is that it could benefit from having a couple of chairs (it had one plastic chair). Some other rooms seemed to be a little more opulent, but the one we had was more than adequate for our needs, and met out expectations Breakfast, served in the courtyard, was wholesome, with a wide and plentiful choice of fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, ham, salami, cheese and breads etc. The breakfast staff, who worked very hard, were fantastic, charming and infinitely patient. Evening meals at the restaurant (which is not run by the hotel, as far as we understood the situation) was a relaxed, very tasty and friendly experience. The management were there to help and advise, and we didn't feel any negative vibes. We had a very relaxing time at the hotel, and wish it and its charming staff well for the future.

Stayed in one of the suites… Quirky furnishings and decor in the room and bathroom…the volcanic rock bathroom was amazing…Outside there was a nice private terrace with table and chairs but only 1 very old and worn sun lounger. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful but the lack of availability of coffee and tea before breakfast service was surprising given that there were no facilities in the room to make any. There’s a lovely communal lounge and outside tables and chairs, there’s a communal fridge with a basket per room for your own personal goods so in the evening it would have been perfect to sit and have supper and a drink but there were no glasses, plates, cutlery to use… they were all locked away in cupboards until breakfast !!!! Hilario is in such a beautiful quiet location, perfect for exploring the island but sadly it’s lacking in simple things and a personal touch that are always available everywhere else we have stayed. We had no contact from the owners after our arrival. Given that we paid 117 euros a night for 7 nights we feel our experience wasn’t what we expected or value for money.

This hotel is in a lovely quiet location. It has great amenities including several pools and restaurants. The best thing is the staff who are fantastic, friendly and very helpful. Food is good but not great. We felt they would benefit from including daily specials to boost variety. It’s worth upgrading to Preferred for the access to private pool area and restaurants. One strange thing is that despite being adults only most of the pool areas are very shallow so not suitable for swimming. We would recommend eating at the sushi bar Gotham. The chef is brilliant, very charismatic and makes some fantastic sushi. Our trip went well for 8 days but then the hotel was invaded by a massive group of Americans on a corporate reward group. This turned a hotel that was supposed to be romantic and for couples into a noisy, shindig. The noise levels increased with the alcohol consumption from late afternoon until late night. It was a very disappointing end to what had been a lovely holiday. Surely a hotel that advertises it is for couples should not be offering mass corporate stays.

We loved every minute of our stay at this hotel. The pool areas are lovely - we preferred to have sunbeds on the grassy area at the bottom pool and there was always sunbeds available. The pool bar at this area was nice too as it never got too busy. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed the food - yes, some of it was a bit repetitive but usual for all inclusive but there was always lots of choice of different meat, fish, veg options each night which were all lovely. The puddings were delicious! We did have dinner down at the marina one night at Azura and the food there was amazing! My son went to the maxi club a few times and made some lovely friends. The market at the marina was lovely to look round and we enjoyed getting the courtesy bus to Puerto del carmen. We stayed all inclusive so got one visit to the spa included and it was amazing! Definitely one of the highlights of this hotel. The only downside we felt was that the entertainment didn’t start until quite late but we didn’t let it ruin the holiday! Honestly can’t understand the negative reviews, think some people just like to find something to moan about! We would definitely return and would definitely recommend hotel Costa Calero!

Si quieres unas vacaciones baratas donde poder disfrutar del puerto del Carmen en Lanzarote y sin exigencias,es el lugar. El hotel necesita una buena reforma integral, la piscina pone que la medida minima es 1,55cm pero no, no haces pie en ningún punto de la piscina ,solo en la escaleras, que no está mal, pero es un punto a tener en cuenta si no sabes nada.Además le faltan muchos azulejos y muchos clientes se cortan. Hamacas hay bastantes. La comida los primeros días algo salada,se lo comentamos al maitre y el resto de la estancia mejoró. En cuanto a los espectáculos,hubieron dos que nos gustó mucho, la banda de ”Copacabana producciones, Son de la Loma” fue muy amena y divertida nos sacó a todos a bailar y el grupo de tres chicos haciendo acrobacias,muy bueno! Las habitaciones son amplias,tanto el dormitorio como el salón tiene ventilador pero aún asi hace muchísimo calor y no se pueden dejar las ventanas ni la puerta abierta,porque como muy normal que es en nuestras islas por el clima, existen insectos poco agraciados que quieren acompañarte en la noche😂 Queremos dar una especial mención al departamento de recepción a Jonathan y al departamento de restaurante a Suso,Ali y Ángel Luis,que a pesar de lo difícil que es trabajar cara al público y lidiar con clientes irrespetuosos, ellos mantienen siempre su amabilidad,sonrisa y serviciales ante todo. Si abriese un negocio,me los llevaría sin dudarlo.

I was made feel very welcome when I arrived at Pension Magec. The hospitality I received from the management and other guests was amazing. Its a very friendly place. The property is very clean and my room was cleaned everyday. The management are extremely helpful. The management will go out of their way ensure that guests needs are met all times. Carla is lovely as are everyone else works there including Sandi the manager The view from the top veranda is stunning. The guests can sit and have a drink and chat together on the veranda. As a solo traveller you would never be lonely and its very safe. Everyone talks to each other when up on the veranda. You are made feel welcome by both management and other guests at all times. There is always someone to talk to. I felt we were like a big happy family. There is free tea and coffee at the property. I would highly recommend Pension Magec as its very central. 9943russellbReading the reviews made me so excited to visit and it didn’t disappoint. I like my home comforts and the accommodation was excellent, comfy, modern, peaceful and couldn’t have asked for more. It was nice to be able to go back to the accommodation knowing you could sit back and also relax without noise or noisy neighbours. The place itself is mainly also really peaceful, two main pools, they are quite cold but not so much you wouldn’t go in and was a nice relief on the warmer days. There was table tennis (sorry we lost a lot of balls on the roof!) and pool (1 euro per game which was good) and golf (golf not recommended as it’s on concrete and nearly impossible to play- but still had fun with a lovely sea view). I want to talk about the staff, I didn’t take names but they will know who they are. Reception staff all very polite and couldn’t do enough. Felt like they wanted us to be there and it started our holiday off perfect. Whenever we needed anything they were there. Baileys bar was amazing. Food and drinks lovely (yummy milkshakes) and the service was also exceptional and with a smile. I tipped a few times as they were all brilliant. One in particular we took a shine to as he was always so helpful, sorting F1 for us and then the Olympics. It really did feel like home. A good base for playa flamingo (15 min walk) lovely restaurant called El Argentino - best fresh pizza and also lovely pasta. All in all one of the best accommodation we have stopped at and as our kids are older the peace and quiet was also nice. Thanks for making our holidays special and we will definitely be back! 22B we stopped in with a lovely partial sea view to top it off! Perfect

PPengguna TetamuWe’ve just got back from a week at the Princess Yaiza - our first visit to Lanzarote. Overall a great week away, but definitely not the best 5 star hotel I’ve stayed in. The hotel is in a lovely location, right on the beach and close to the marina and restaurants. We actually found it very windy within the hotel complex - a lot more windy than outside so it felt colder at times especially if the weather was overcast. The hotel does say that the pools are heated however they still felt relatively cold and a lot of people weren’t in them until afternoon- particularly on the days when it wasn’t warmer till 3ish. The children’s facilities are great. Our 3 year old loved the soft play and the parks in Kikoland and the staff were very friendly and welcoming! We also loved size of the rooms we just had a standard suite but felt we had a lot of room for the 3 of us with the lounge area being separate and nice size terrace. Food I would say was pretty average. Breakfast was fine; lots of choice. Evening buffet wasn’t too bad but I found options for children quite limited - mainly just pizza chips chicken nuggets etc. we did the teppanyaki restaurant which was good & would recommend doing the a la cartes over the buffet although an extra charge even if half board!

We stayed in the middle of August for 10 nights as a couple. Upon entry, we were greeted by friendly hotel staff who checked us in, offered us a glass of bubbles or water, and a bellhop then took our luggage to our room. He was incredibly helpful and informative of the hotel and its amenities. We didn’t catch his name but we wanted to thank him. We were in room 290 which is above the pool bar. This meant if you wanted an early night it wouldn’t happen. Evening entertainment was loud enough that we could hear it from our room. Even at the end of the night, the noise was still very loud. The room itself was spacious and pretty clean. Towels were replenished if we left them on the floor and room was always left tidy. Air conditioning worked well and we left this on during the day to keep room cool. We had one free mini fridge worth of items and a free safe to use for our stay. We were very grateful for these amenities. Our two biggest let downs were the food and the smoking. There seemingly is no smoking policy enforced at this hotel. As someone who doesn’t smoke and whose partner quit 3+ years ago, we found it pretty disgusting at times and found ourselves coughing a lot. There were a lot of people who were coughing and spluttering while we were there - ourselves included. Halfway through the holiday we both came down with heavy colds and so had to go to the pharmacy down the road to get some medication. It did help but did put a damper on the holiday. As it was out anniversary during our stay, we were offered a bottle of cava and some Lindt chocolates in our room, which was a nice touch. Thank you for being considerate! We stayed all inclusive but wouldn’t recommend it. The biggest let down for us was the food. The food in the buffet restaurant was very similar every night and not always properly cooked. Often we’d find the rice hard and pasta clumped in hard groups. The options are great if you like fish. We don’t eat fish and so found it harder to find food to enjoy. The food isn’t always labelled correctly and no allergens are on the food cards. This will undoubtedly make it difficult for anyone who has intolerances or allergies. I’d suggest putting allergen advice on all the food tags and ensure everything has a tag. Breakfast was the nicest meal in the restaurant we found. We never found that there wasn’t a table available in the buffet restaurant and were always seated very quickly. The pool bar food is better, but can only be eaten there and you have to wait a while for it to turn up at your table. Some tables aren’t in shade and so the shady tables are sought for at lunch. We enjoyed eating here until one night we saw about 4 cockroaches in the pool bar and vowed never to eat there again. There are snacks served at the pool bar, but we soon learnt they were leftovers from breakfast or lunch and so didn’t get any. The A La Carte restaurant is lovely. You can dine in there if you stay for over 7 nights. We had a lovely meal

Palmeras Garden is an exceptional resort that will not disappoint! We spent 7 days there with two children - aged 6 and 8 and we had the best time ever. We stayed in a premium bungalow that was absolutely beautiful and with a pool view. We had everything we needed for our holiday. The lady cleaning the room was coming to us everyday. I’m saying this, because I saw reviews that moan about that, however, we never experienced lack of care for our villa. The receptionists Emilio and Celia will make sure you are well looked after, they are such a wonderful people. They made our stay even more enjoyable. People are also saying that there is no much for the kids to do there, however, there are two beaches near by, water park literally 5 mins down the road, a massive volcano behind the resort that is so cool and my kids loved the hike up and of course the pool in the resort that provides inflatables for the kids. I mean what more kids need really? But of course if you are used to kids entertainments and stuff like this, probably this place is not for you, as it is quiet. For us it was excellent, because we wanted to spend some quality time with the kiddos and we usually love places where there is minimal tourism, although, I’m pretty sure they get very busy during the summer holidays. We just hit the jackpot in June when it wasn’t as busy and kids could have the pool pretty much for themselves in the hot afternoons. We also hired a car so we can drive around and explore the island and we managed to see so many breathtaking places not only in playa Blanca but all over the place. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants around the resort. Thank you Emilio and Celia for this unforgettable holiday. We enjoyed every minute in your resort as well as on the island. We will be definitely coming back.

EEmmaSullivan86Just got back from our week at the Hotel Rubicon Palace, having stayed previously in 2019. This time my husband and I were accompanied by our four year old and 10 month old baby - it was our first trip abroad as parents and we had high hopes following our previous trip. There's much to like about this hotel - the grounds and the public areas of the hotel are all very well kept, the staff are generally friendly and welcoming, and we enjoyed the buffet and the a la carte restaurants. Our four year old adored the mini club and all the activities. And he had the time of his life in the children's pool. We had a few minor issues during the week - having to change rooms due to bugs, key card not working, etc, but we were able to sort these with the help of the staff. The reason I'm writing this review (and I almost never write reviews) is that I was so so disappointed with the cleanliness of the baby club. Our ten month old is too young for the activities which are for 1-3 year olds, but he's very mobile so I was really looking forward to taking him to the baby play area so that he could play safely each day. However, it was FILTHY and I didn't feel that we could safely use the facility. The staff there were lovely, and clearly wonderful with the babies and toddlers, but there appears to be zero cleaning protocol for the baby club. One of the baby walkers had dirt encrusted around all the buttons, and each toy had a thin layer of grime all over it - including every ball in the ball pit. Now I get that babies are yucky creatures, and it's hard to keep things clean - but this level of dirt looks like it has been accumulating for YEARS. Has no-one really complained about this in all this time? Or have people complained, and the hotel has so little regard for its youngest visitors that it has done nothing about it? I know the management read these reviews and respond.... for me, the only acceptable response will be to tell me that you're closing the baby club for a day or two to do a thorough deep clean of all the surfaces and toys. And that the baby club will get cleaned as regularly as all the other parts of the hotel going forward. And if parents are reading this before their holiday, and they arrive to find the baby club is still in such a poor state - please raise it with management! They cannot claim ignorance of this anymore. Our babies deserve better than this.

PPengguna TetamuJust got back from a lovely 2 weeks here. Only reason I gave 4* is because one outdoor pool was supposed to be heated and it wasn’t (they were freezing). Also check in was a bit confusing re deposits, remotes, keys and towels & then they tried to make out that we didn’t pay a deposit when we returned them. Got sorted in the end though. Rooms are basic but clean. Beds are comfy. Hotel grounds are immaculate. Indoor pool lovely and warm (adults only). Had some ants in the room, told reception who soon sorted them. Didn’t eat in the hotel but you can pay on the day of you want to, the food looked lovely. 10 min stroll to the beach, 20 min to the Marina & 15 mins to the main *****. It’s 3* so if you want 5* don’t go here. I can’t wait to go back!
