I saved a block of 10 plus rooms for extended members of my family for my sons wedding in May of 2022. These reservations were made over a 6 month period of time leading up to the wedding. All through the process I found the hotel manager and staff to be very helpful in making accommodations suitable for my various family members and was pleased. Unfortunately when my brother and mother arrived they found their reservation for adjoining rooms had not been held for them even though we had confirmed this arrangement with the manager a few weeks prior. This was very upsetting as my mother is elderly and has memory issues and needs to have direct access to my brother who is her caregiver to assure her comfort level in a place she is not familiar. When the hotel was unable to provide us with adjoining rooms, my brother asked to cancel his room as he would now need to share a room with my mother in order to assure her safety and he was told he would still have to pay for his room, even though the reservation was lost due to The Red Lions mistake, not his! The other accommodations my family and I made went as planned, but this one for my mother was one of the most important ones and caused unneeded stress for myself and my son on the day before his wedding! Apparently the reservations were ”floating” and this is why one of them was not saved. I have never heard of a floating reservation, nor was this ever explained to myself or any members of our wedding block during the many communications leading up to our stay. I was very pleased with the suite we reserved for my son and his bride which is the only reason I am giving you a ”poor” rating instead of terrible, but everything else was just ok. Considering how many rooms we paid for, and how large my extended family is I would think refunding my brother for a room he couldn't enjoy due too their error would have been in Red Lions best interest. I can assure you none of us will be returning.

Full disclosure: I have worked at hotels in the past. I was very disappointed with this hotel, and will NOT a return guest. Check in: My husband and I stopped by the hotel prior to the standard check in time, knowing a room would most likely not be available. We were off to a private event, and wanted to get the paperwork and credit card authorization done ahead of time. We did not know when we would be returning to the hotel, and did not want the night shift to cancel our room. When we asked to ”pre-register,” the woman working (who was clearly new) told us that was not an option. I was frustrated until her trainer stepped in and said that was fine. The trainer showed the new hire how to authorize our card, and stated she would leave clear/detailed notes for the evening shift that we were not a no show. Notes did not happen. I would understand if the lobby was busy at the time we arrived, but we were the only ones present. I received a call at 9:30 pm, which thankfully I was able to answer, from someone at the front desk asking if I was still coming. I answered yes, and said that my credit card had been authorized earlier in the day, and that there were supposed to be notes on my account. The front desk person seemed surprised, and didn't see any notes (or didn't look). They were calling because the hotel was oversold (”we have a full hose tonight”) and wanted my room. When my husband and I finally got back to the hotel, we were assigned a room on a low floor facing the main street. We could hear every car that drove by. We ordered the continental breakfast, which was a joke. My husband ordered the meat and cheese option, which was so disappointing and unappetizing he chose not to eat. Parking is cheap, ($10 per night), but the garage is shared with the hotel next door, and is chaotic at best. The only positive was that the room was clean.

The room was very clean but the staff wasn’t very nice. For a late checkout I was charged $50 and apparently normal use of a towel meaning it had been used meant that the towel was now ruined and that they were trying to. Charge me $100 bucks for a towel that wasn’t even stained…. After already paying for my room my kids and I went to get dinner and came back the the owner approached us as if we were trespassing and was very rude to me and my kids after we informed them that we had already paid for our room and we’re supposed to be there yet he acted like it meant that since we had left we were no longer guests or something. He was very rude and did not make it feel welcoming at all. Also there is not free breakfast and there is no coffee pots.

Very good deal for the price! Every staff member I met were friendly and very helpful. Room was very clean. Only downside neighborhood was not very convenient for me. Wish the pool was indoors too. No elevators for second floor rooms, so I just got a ground floor room.

It seems to be the most affordable option during graduation weekend, and check in was relatively quick - but the facility definitely has some major upkeep issues. Our room had holes in the door, dirty carpet, very noisy air-conditioning, and the oddest thing (I know this will sound weird) is that our room (at least) appeared to have an atmosphere conducive to bad dreams and nightmares for both participants the night we were there – it didn’t help that the room had odd noises throughout the night. Now while this might sound like some superstitious nonsense, a quick internet news review suggested someone had died in the wing of the hotel we were staying in a few years ago. Although that might be interesting, that certainly wasn’t the purpose of this trip. Other challenges: the breakfast buffet was marginal, and almost entirely empty with no refills the Saturday we were there; noisy dogs and running children continued late into the evening and early in the morning, and parking was a nightmare - I would read this property on par with a motel six. While this property might have been the least expensive in Yakima during our visit, next time, I think we might pay more for a slightly more comfortable stay.
