In the morning, setting out from Kashgar to Taxkorgan, after checking in at the stunningly blue and enchanting Lake Baisar, we once again experienced the fickle weather of the plateau. The clear sky suddenly turned into rolling dark clouds, unpredictable. The original plan to capture the full panorama of Mustagh Ata and the best position for Gongger Jiubie Peak at the shore of Karakul Lake was obscured by the overcast clouds, leaving no trace to be seen. Driver Mr. Li, full of confidence, assured us that he would definitely let us capture the satisfying and enjoyable views of the snowy mountains and glaciers, so we drove directly to the unplanned destination of Mustagh Glacier Park. Mustagh Glacier Park is located at the foot of the world-famous 'Father of Ice Mountains'—the 7546-meter Mustagh Ata, in Taxkorgan County. The park covers an area of 20 square kilometers, is 72 kilometers from the county town, 12 kilometers from the National Highway 314, and has an average altitude of 5000 meters. It is covered with white snow all year round, boasting magnificent natural scenery with the crystal-clear beauty of an ice and snow world! For someone like me, who has seen the vast ice and snow of the Northeast, the grandeur of the glaciers, the elegance of the ice serpents, the colorful ice towers, ice caves, the tenderness and starkness of the four-layer ice lakes in Mustagh Glacier Park, the masterful work of nature still leaves me in awe and feeling the beauty is breathtaking and dreamlike.
