10 Things You Need to Know Before Visiting the Forbidden City in Hanfu!

⛳The Forbidden City in Beijing is a must-see for its exquisite ancient architecture and rich cultural heritage. As the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, it is the largest museum of ancient Chinese culture and art. Many people dream of visiting the Forbidden City in Hanfu and taking beautiful photos! 🍁I visited the Forbidden City in early winter and was amazed by this national treasure. It was once the center of power in ancient China, and now we can visit it. I decided to visit the Forbidden City in Hanfu to fulfill my wish. Here are 10 things you need to know before you go: 1⃣️Prepare your own clothes: The Forbidden City is mainly decorated with glazed tiles, vermilion walls, and white marble bridges. Choose colors that match, such as red, purple, white, or dark green. Hanfu and Manchu clothing are both good choices. 2️⃣Rent clothes: There are many Hanfu rental shops in front of the Donghua Gate of the Forbidden City, with varying prices. I rented a Ming-style Hanfu for a whole day for CNY 398/set (including makeup, headwear, and shoes) and a cloak for CNY 99. 3⃣️Arrive early if you rent clothes: Makeup and styling take 2 hours. We started at 9:30 am and finished at 11:30 am. The makeup and styling were good, and I felt like I had traveled back in time. 4⃣️Tickets: Be sure to book in advance and bring your ID card to enter the palace. 5⃣️Route: Follow this route and focus on the highlights: Meridian Gate - Gate of Supreme Harmony - Hall of Supreme Harmony - Hall of Central Harmony - Hall of Preserving Harmony - Cining Palace - Shoukang Palace - Cining Palace Garden - Duanhong Bridge - Wuying Hall - Wenhua Hall - Donghua Gate. 6⃣️White marble, palace gates, red pillars: There are fewer tourists on the left side after passing the Meridian Gate. The light is softer in the afternoon. 7⃣️Red walls, steps: The red walls on the west side of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Supreme Harmony, and the Golden Throne Hall in the Forbidden City are great photo spots. Take photos with white marble carvings, bases, railings, etc., for a grand scene. 8⃣️Glazed walls, Imperial Garden: There are glazed walls deep in the six palaces, and the Imperial Garden has many scenic spots, such as walls and pavilions, for unique photos. The Treasure Hall entrance, Nine Dragon Wall, and Huangji Hall are also great photo spots. 9⃣️Lighting: The light is softest around 4 pm, but the Forbidden City starts to clear out after 4 pm, so make sure to take your photos in time. 🔟Prohibited: Light reflectors are not allowed, and photos are not allowed on the central axis.
