The Berlin Zoological Garden

The Berlin Zoological Garden, known as Zoologischer Garten Berlin, is one of the oldest and most renowned zoos in the world. Established in 1844, it is the oldest zoo in Germany. It is situated in the center of Berlin, near the Tiergarten park. The zoo covers 35 hectares (86.5 acres). Home to over 20,000 animals of around 1,200 species, making it one of the most comprehensive collections of species globally. The Berlin Zoo includes a large aquarium that features various marine and freshwater species. The zoo is actively involved in conservation projects and breeding programs for endangered species.
