The Colourful Gamcheon Culture Village in Busan 🌈

If you’re visiting Busan in South Korea, then Gamcheon Culture Village should definitely be on your list of places to visit! It’s famous for it’s colourful houses, street art, shops and cafes. The area used to be a shanty town, housing refugees of the Korean War in the 1950s. In 2009, the government helped plan the Gamcheon Culture Village Project to transform the village. Local artists, students and community members all came together to make it into what we see today. It’s now one of the most popular tourist sites in all of South Korea! Getting there: 🚇 The closest subway station is Toseong Station. Leave through exit 6 and you will see signs to the village. 🚌 Then you will need take the green minibus 2-2-2 or 1-1. 🚕 Alternatively, take a taxi. It’s a very steep hill so walking is not really recommended to get up there. There is one main path that takes you all the way around the village, but I recommend walking down the smaller and narrower paths and getting lost! You never know what you will find. There are so many souvenir shops, small coffee shops and even museums.
