According to the stories of the people of Chaiya, there is a legend about the Phra Borommathat Chaiya Chedi. Once, there were two Indian brothers named Pa Mo and Pa Man. They traveled by sailboat to Chaiya. They brought their followers to land at Ban Na Khai near Wat Na Mueang in Tambon Le Met. The governor assigned Pa Mo, who was an expert in construction, to build the Phra Borommathat Chaiya Chedi. When it was finished, he cut off his hands and feet so that Pa Mo would not build such a beautiful chedi for anyone else. Pa Mo could not stand the wounds and died. The governor cast a statue of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara as a symbol of Pa Mo. His younger brother, Pa Man, went to live on Koh Phat Man and remained there until his death. Pa Man’s house was located on a high ground that was not flooded. There was a rice field around it covering an area of ​​about 1 rai.
