In Chongqing Luohan Temple, I saw the true appearance of the Five Hundred Luohans

Memories of the Mountain City② 🍀 Before coming to Chongqing, I didn’t know about Luohan Temple. I decided to include it in my itinerary after seeing the recommendation of the scenic spot. It is not far from the Eighteen Ladder Scenic Area where I stayed. Among the high-rise buildings in Chongqing Forest, Luohan Temple has been hidden in the city for more than a thousand years. 🍀 Luohan Temple, originally Zhiping Temple, was first built during the Zhiping period of the Northern Song Dynasty. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, 📖 "Records of Famous Places in Shu" stated: "Zhiping Temple... has Luohan Cave and Xiantian Cave, both of which are ancient caves." 🍀 Of course, due to well-known reasons, most of the scenes we see today were rebuilt in the 1980s. The ancient Buddha Rock and Ming Dynasty stele pavilions still have traces of antiquity. 🍀 Counting the Arhats in the Arhat Temple, there are 524 Arhat statues in the Arhat Hall, arranged on a high platform. Many believers come to count the Arhats, each with their own method, I wonder if they can all be counted. 🍀 The pavilions in the temple are also three-dimensional, connected by steps and corridors, with a new view at every step. The roof is high and the eaves are flying in the air, majestic and magnificent.
