Songyang Academy

4500 cypress trees. An ancient Chinese higher education institution, located 3 kilometers north of Dengfeng City, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, under the Junji Peak. It was first built in the eighth year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty (484 AD). It was renamed Songyang Academy and set up a dean to manage the academy affairs when it was rebuilt in the second year of Jingyou in the Song Dynasty (1035 AD). It is one of the birthplaces of Cheng-Zhu Neo-Confucianism in the Song Dynasty. Its architectural style is a "specimen" for studying the architecture, education system, and Confucian culture of ancient Chinese academies.
