The adjacent Academy Gallery's San Marco Monastery is not crowded with visitors, but the most beautiful frescoes are here. Angelico's masterpieces are beyond replication, for they possess an ethereal beauty, the epitome of understated elegance, not photogenic, yet every spectator is inevitably captivated. He himself was a monk of this monastery, the only one who painted not for 💰, but for each monk's cell. Most of these paintings have been preserved to this day.
