Lingnan New Year: A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

This is a record of my trip to Foshan, Guangdong during the Lunar New Year. During the Lunar New Year, I visited the Ancient Nanfeng Kiln in Foshan. It is not only rich in historical and cultural heritage, but also full of festive atmosphere, allowing me to experience the unique charm of Lingnan culture. Many ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties are preserved here. Walking on the ancient stone road, I felt like I was traveling through time and space. There are two national treasure-level dragon kilns in the scenic area, Nanfeng Kiln and Gao Kiln, which have a history of more than 500 years and are still in use today. They are rare wood-fired dragon kilns in the world. You can observe the structure of the kiln up close, learn about the kiln firing process, and feel the charm of ceramic culture. During the Lunar New Year, the scenic area is full of festive atmosphere. On the second day of the Lunar New Year, I was lucky enough to participate in the "Add Firewood" activity at Gao Kiln. You need to buy firewood outside for about CNY 18, and then you can enter to add firewood. Under the guidance of the craftsman, I added a piece of firewood to the burning dragon kiln, which means adding blessings and luck for the new year. The Ancient Nanfeng Kiln is a charming place that perfectly integrates tradition and modernity, allowing people to feel the profound heritage of Lingnan culture while having fun.
