Take the subway to Deep Well Station, and you will see Deep Well Ancient Village when you come out. Changzhou Island is a sandbar in the Pearl River, and Deep Well is part of Changzhou, with a crack in the middle, dividing the small island into two, and a bridge connects them. ✔️Next to the subway station is a large pond, and you can see a towering pagoda in the distance. At the northeast corner of the pond is a small hill, which is the tomb of the Ling family, the ancestor of the village. The tomb of the Ling family's ancestor from the Song Dynasty, as well as the second and third generations from the Ming Dynasty, are buried here. At the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, descendants built the Ling family's ancestral tomb road here for worship. At the foot of the mountain by the pond, there are two tall kapok trees, under which a hexagonal pavilion named Lu Yi Pavilion is built, named after the wife of the second generation of Ling, Lu, who is a descendant of Lu You. ✔️Continue northeast from here to enter the ancient village houses. Deep Well Village has a history of more than 750 years and is a typical layout of Lingnan village, presenting a comb-like structure. ✔️However, even the main street is very narrow in the eyes of modern people, and cars definitely cannot get in, at most a tricycle can run. Passing through the archway at the street corner, walking through the ancient village, new and old houses are interlaced. ✔️There are many ancestral halls distributed in the village, basically all are Ling's ancestral halls. One of them is open to the public, named Ling's Ancestral Hall, because it is the ancestral hall of the founder, and the founder Ling Fangming is enshrined inside. Ling Fangming, whose name is Houfeng, is the sixth son of Ling Zhen, a anti-Yuan general at the end of the Song Dynasty and the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty. The ancestral hall is named Dutuitang, which was built in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty and was rebuilt during the Daoguang and Tongzhi periods of the Qing Dynasty. ✔️Passing through the ancient village all the way to the Pearl River in the northeast, Anlai City, which was a commercial street built by villagers' fundraising in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, covering about 10 acres, and much of the land was reclaimed from the sea. The straight street in it is as long as 400 meters, and there are archways at the beginning and end of the street, with the words "Anlai" written on them, meaning safety and peace of mind. ✔️Walking out of Anlai Straight Street, you will come to the Pearl River, and there is a shipyard across the river, which is Changzhou Island, and the former site of Huangpu Military Academy is hidden nearby. After walking in the ancient village for half a day, there is no business inside, and you can't find a place to eat when you are hungry.
