Do you remember the "double museum" in Guangzhou? The Guangzhou Art Museum (Guangzhou Museum of Art) is currently the only "double museum" in the country's art institutions: ■ National First-Class Museum ■ National Key Art Museum, which is a national public welfare cultural institution with functions such as collecting fine art works, displaying the history of fine arts, organizing fine arts research and education, and carrying out domestic and foreign fine arts exchanges, and improving the aesthetic quality of the public. In 1957, the Guangzhou Museum of Art was born on the old site of the Zhongyuan Library on Yuexiu Mountain. In the following forty-three years, a total of 364 unique exhibitions were held. In 2000, the Guangzhou Art Museum was opened on the shore of Luhu Lake, and the staff and collections of the Guangzhou Museum of Art were gradually moved here, and more art works and other types of art collections were collected, which had the dual nature of art museums and museums. In 2015, the Guangzhou Art Museum was rated as a "National Key Art Museum". In 2020, the Guangzhou Art Museum was rated as a "National First-Class Museum". In 2023, the newly launched Guangzhou Art Museum (Guangzhou Museum of Art) will be opened, and it will continue to write art stories on the new central axis of Guangzhou in a more modern posture. On November 30, 2023, the new museum of the Guangzhou Art Museum (Guangzhou Museum of Art) officially opened to the public. The new museum exhibition is based on the keywords "Millennium Treasures, Lingnan Youth", and exhibits more than 1,100 collections, more than 200 borrowed exhibits, and more than 500 documentary exhibits. The exhibits in the museum include Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, comics, sculpture, watercolor painting, etc., and are divided into four parts: "Inheriting Classics", "Re-reading Lingnan", "Beauty and Sharing", and "Digital Empowerment" to show visitors. On January 27, 2024, the second phase of the "Wanhe Zhengliu-Guangzhou Art Museum Collection of Chinese Ancient Painting School Art Exhibition" officially opened to the public. The four painting schools exhibited in the second phase are Loudong Painting School, Yushan Painting School, Changzhou Painting School and Xin'an Painting School. There are a total of 66 exhibits (164 physical objects), involving 54 painters.
