Yufeng Sauce Garden, Haining, Zhejiang

The history of Yanguan Yufeng Sauce Garden can be traced back to 1836, when it was founded by Xu Xingpao, the grandfather of the famous poet Xu Zhimo. Xu Xingpao was a literate man who mainly engaged in business, and he founded Xu Yufeng Sauce Garden in the ancient town of Yanguan. The sauce garden was originally located outside the Henggang Bridge in Xieshi, and later moved to Beidajie Street in Xieshi. Xu Yufeng Sauce Garden had a certain influence in the local area and even in Shanghai, and became one of the largest sauce gardens in Haining. Yufeng Sauce Garden was founded in 1836 and has a history of nearly 200 years. It not only has an important position in Haining, but also has a certain market influence in Shanghai. In 1956, the sauce garden participated in the public-private partnership of the whole industry and became part of Haining Brewing Factory, which was later renamed Haining MSG Factory. At present, Xu Yufeng Sauce Garden is located at No. 77 Xinghua Village, Chang'an Town, Haining City, covering an area of about 35 mu. The sauce garden mainly produces condiments and alcoholic beverages, including brewed soy sauce, brewed vinegar, brewed sauce and condiments, as well as yellow wine and white wine. The sauce garden also has two intangible cultural heritage projects: Yufeng rice vinegar brewing technique and urn repair technique, and was rated as "Zhejiang Time-honored Brand" in 2019. In addition, the sauce garden has set up an inheritance experience area and a research and promotion area, and has received a large number of research teachers and students.
