Exquisite Japanese European Fusion

HAKU is hidden behind a black curtain in the middle of a harshly lit, frenetic hallway. Walk through the curtain and you’re instantly transported to a calm, dimly-lit oasis. Modeled as a contemporary izakaya (Japanese gastropub), the Japanese space includes a handful of intimate tables on the right, a private room, and about 12 coveted seats at the chef’s table on the left. Each place setting includes a handwritten menu and a handmade ceramic plate, accompanied by a little Japanese poem. It’s thoughtful touches like these that make HAKU about more than just great food. The multi-course menu features the likes of kani with yuzu truffle, Jerusalem artichoke and hazelnut, or Kagoshima wagyu beef served with black garlic. The best seats here are by the open kitchen.
