People travel to pay homage, make wishes, and throw coins into the mouth of Erawan. They also walk under the belly of Erawan according to their beliefs. The Erawan elephant is made from 9 types of wood: teak, rak, phayung, jackfruit, paduak, red wood, tengrak, takian wood, and sandalwood.
