Centuries ago, the ancients had already constructed bridges that spanned the sea, revealing my ignorance

The Luoyang Bridge in Quanzhou, which connects the Taiwanese Business Investment Area with the Luojiang District, is situated above the Luoyang River waterway. It is also a famous sea-crossing beam-style stone bridge, known as 'the number one bridge under the heavens' and is one of the 'Four Great Ancient Bridges'. In 2021, the 'World Maritime Trade Center of Song-Yuan China' was approved by the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee, and Luoyang Bridge was included in the 'World Cultural Heritage List', becoming China's 56th World Heritage Site. Luoyang Bridge has many significant achievements in bridge construction technology, with the three most important being the 'raft foundation' method, the 'oyster cultivation foundation solidification' method, and the 'floating transport suspension bridge' method. At the time when Luoyang Bridge, this sea-crossing bridge, was completed, Europe had yet to see a sea-crossing stone bridge. Today, the oldest existing stone bridge across a river in Europe is the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy, which was completed in 1345, 286 years after the Luoyang Bridge.
