Yishang Street

Yishang Street's earliest remains can be traced back to the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Today, No. 22-32 Guanyi River Head is the former residence of Xie An of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. During the Southern Liang Dynasty, Xiao Xiu, the governor of Wuxing, built the Bai Ping Pavilion. In the ninth year of the Tang Dynasty, Yan Zhenqing built the Zhexi Pavilion, which was later renamed the Bilan Hall by Du Mu. The Song Dynasty's 'Jiatai Wuxing Records' states that Yishang Street was known as the main street of the provincial capital, the front street of the provincial capital, and the market street during the Song Dynasty. It was known as the front street of the prefecture and the small market street during the Ming Dynasty. It was the main commercial street of Huzhou, leading to the post station. As early as the mid-Qing Dynasty, it was named 'Yishang Street' because of the many clothing stores. There were more than ten clothing stores such as Wang Ji and Jiu Jia, more than ten dowry shops such as Fu Tai He, Wan Tai He, and Xin Tai He, as well as Chen Xinyuan Silver Building, Sen Yi Yuan Chinese Medicine Shop, etc. After the Northern Expedition, these bustling clothing stores gradually faded from people's lives.
