Jilin City丨Beishan Park

Jilin Beishan is a famous tourist attraction in Jilin City and a national 4A-level scenic spot. The scenery around the mountain is beautiful, with ancient temples scattered on the mountain. The landscape is picturesque, with a long history and rich cultural heritage. During the Qing Dynasty, both Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong visited Jilin Beishan. During the Daoguang period, General Songyun of Jilin visited Jilin Beishan and wrote 'The First Mountain and River Under Heaven.' In 1924, Jilin Governor Zhang Zuoxiang presided over the construction and transformed it into Beishan Park. Jilin Beishan was originally named Jiulong Mountain. In 1682, when Emperor Kangxi toured Jilin City, someone suggested that Jiulong Mountain had the potential to produce emperors due to its dragon and tiger-like terrain. Kangxi felt uneasy and asked how to resolve this. The person replied, 'As long as the feng shui is disrupted, the Qing dynasty can be preserved forever.' Therefore, Kangxi ordered several peaks of Jiulong Mountain to be cut off to destroy the dragon vein. Since it was located north of the Jilin General's Office, it was later renamed Beishan and has been used ever since. Jilin Beishan Jiulong Gate is a must-visit spot in Jilin Beishan. It is the heaviest bronze dragon gate in the country, completed in November 2001. It stands 9.9 meters high, 7.8 meters wide, 1.9 meters thick, and weighs 20 tons. The Jiulong Gate is surrounded by musical fountains. The gate is based on the legend of Jiulong Mountain, using dragon patterns from the Bronze Age and Jade Age, symbolizing dignified, simple, elegant, and harmonious dragons. The nine dragons are intertwined, symbolizing the soaring of the nine dragons.
