Bulgaria's Hidden Gem | A UFO Monument Straight Out of a Sci-Fi Movie

🔸 Also known as: Buzludzha Monument 🔸 Standing on a remote peak in Stara Zagora, its shape closely resembles a UFO from a sci-fi movie. However, it was built in the 1970s, a communist monument constructed by 6,000 workers over 7 years, completed in 1981. 🔸 This building commemorates the secret gathering led by Dimitar Blagoev in 1891, where a group of socialists met in this area to form an organized socialist movement, leading to the establishment of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party, the precursor to the Bulgarian Communist Party. 🔸 In 1989, the Bulgarian Communist Party relinquished power, and Bulgaria began its transition to democratic politics. The Buzludzha Monument gradually lost its original significance. Now, due to long-term disrepair, it is in a state of ruin and inaccessible, only its exterior can be photographed.
