Musandam Peninsula i

Musandam Peninsula is situated in Oman’s northerly point separated from the rest of Oman by United Arab Emirates. The mountain surrounding it attracts tourist because of its beautiful form. From the air, the mountainous terrain resembles claw like fingers reaching into brilliant torquoise waters. From Dubai, I book a day tour and about 2 hours to get there by land. Then we ride the Dhow and cruise us to the beautiful spots in Musandam. The dhow stops in the middle and let us enjoy for a swim, banana boat ride then we proceeded to other tourist spots. My tour package include a buffet meal, land transfer Dubai-Musandam vice versa, and entry permit to Oman. It was fun and I really enjoyed it even I was the only Filipino on that tour meeting new friends and eating Arabic foods. #qingmingtravel #lightthecity #urbanexplorer #urbanexplorer#qingmingtravel#lightthecity

Old bund, Moon lake, and Science Exploration Center, Ningbo, Zhejiang, China. That's all I covered with one night's stay there. It was an awesome trip. The Moon Lake is about a one-kilometer walking distance from Ningbo Railway Station. It was nice to watch the boats floating all around the lake paddling by the visitors. The Old Bund is awesome at night. The adjacent church is a must visiting spot. You can enjoy late-night drinking at any chosen bar among many with live music. Overall, I like the vibrancy of Ningbo🤗 #historicculture#urbanexplorer#qingmingtravel#springblossoms#lightthecity

Kezhi Garden

Kezhi Garden, 课植园, is a haven of peace and tranquility inside Zhujiajiao Old Town. I visited Zhujiajiao on Qingming Festival, and while most of the old town was packed, there were very few people inside the Kezhi Garden. Perhaps the nondescript entrance or the ¥20 admission kept visitors away, but for me it was a highlight of the whole trip. Built by the Ma family and dating in part to the Ming Dynasty, it includes classical gardens and buildings, a two storey library and a small farm, where the patriarch of the family encouraged his progeny to learn farming as well as scholarly activities so they would better understand the world and be able to enjoy the satisfaction of manual labour. The model farm was planted with bright yellow rapeseed and vegetables when I visited. Don't miss this hidden gem when visiting Zhujiajiao. #leaveyourmark #urbanexplorer #qingmingtravel #lightthecity #shanghai #garden #springflowers #peaceful #rest #historicallandmarks #classical #architecture

Sheshan Basilica

At the top of She Hill in Sheshan Park, Shanghai, stands the Basilica of Our Lady of Sheshan, a large Romanesque structure built in the 1920s (replacing an earlier church from 1863.) It is in the large Sheshan National Forest Park, a huge outdoor area in western Shanghai including an amusement park, resorts, a planetarium and other attractions. I visited on a Sunday which was both Qingming Festival and Easter Sunday, so it was predictably busy, but only the initial climb up the hill was really crowded. Avoid this set of stairs (leading from the entrance gate) and climb from the east side, which has a gentler ascent and the Stations of the Cross along the way. Enjoy the relatively fresh air, fine view and many trees as you walk around the park. You can take the metro to Sheshan Station, from which point there are free shuttles. I opted to walk and it took about an hour from the metro station to West Sheshan Park where the basilica is located. From this side you can also get a city bus to the line 17 station, from which point I continued to Zhujiajiao, which is only a few stations further along. #LeaveYourMark #qingmingtravel #lightthecity #urbanexplorer #shanghai #park #forest #china

Xi'an Bell Tower

Xi'an has the most light up buildings I've ever seen in China. It is so colorful that you must walk around during the evenings and experience it yourself ❣ There is no specific place but rather various areas to visit. If you like to take pictures and capture the moment like me then this is something that you will love 👌 In below pictures you see the Bell Tower, the Giant Goose Pagoda and parts of the Datang Everbright city. #urbanexplorer#qingmingtravel#lightthecity

Duolun Road Cultural Street

Duolun Road in Hongkou District, Shanghai, is a historical area known for its period architecture and the many writers who once lived here. The quiet streets are filled with cafés and antique shops, with plenty of places to stop and appreciate the atmosphere. The Fitch Memorial Church, at 59 Duolun Road, is the only Christian church in Shanghai built with design elements of a Chinese temple. Near the church there is an art gallery The Duolun Road historical area is a short walk from Dongbaoxing Road Station on line 3 (东宝兴路站). #urbanexplorer #qingmingtravel #lightthecity #shanghai #china #historicallandmark #culture #art #architecture #photography #history

Shanghai History Museum

The Shanghai History Museum gives a well curated survey of the region's human presence from Neolithic times up till now, with a focus on the 19th and 20th centuries, during which time Shanghai developed from a locally important port to a global financial centre and one of the most international cities in the world. Start at the ground floor and work your way up floor by floor to travel forwards in time. On the ground floor be sure to greet Stephen, one of the original bronze lions which once guarded the entrance to the HSBC headquarters on the Bund (the other is named Stitt, Stephen and Stitt having been the governors of the bank at that time.) Another iteration of Stephen and Stitt can be found outside the HSBC Building in Hong Kong and the newest ones outside the new HSBC headquarters in London. When you've finished with the exhibits, climb to the rooftop for a good view of the surroundings. The large clock on the front of the building chimes on the hour. The Shanghai History Museum is just outside People's Park (Renmin Gongyuan, 人民公园) and just a few steps from Renmin Guangchang metro station. The Shanghai Museum, which displays paintings, calligraphy, seals, coins and other art, is a short walk away. #qingmingtravel #urbanexplorer #lightthecity #museum #history #historicallandmarks #shanghai #china #lion

Yu Garden

For a refuge from the hustle of Shanghai, visit the Yu Garden, 豫园, located a short distance from the Bund. Dating first to the Ming Dynasty, Yuyuan was an important part of Shanghai long before the foreign concessions began and Shanghai grew into a world metropolis. It remains an ideal spot to appreciate classical Chinese architecture and garden design. Though the general area is not extensive, the many winding pathways between hidden gardens allow you to spend a long time walking. Or choose a comfortable place to sit and take in the many views compactly arranged around you. Regular tickets are ¥40; show your ID when buying. #qingmingtravel #urbanexplorer #lightthecity #shanghai #garden #springblossoms #weekendtrip

Elephant Hill Scenic Area

As mostly when we do the travel, it is like a protocol that we stay in a hotel and go to touristy places. But this time we decided to turn a stranger to a friend; yea I'm talking about homestay. This house we contacted through a mutual friend and they are more than glad to have us in their house. So we had a warm stay in Guilin village, with lunch & dinner from freshly caught pond fish and other yummies. We had two relaxed days at their place and later on third day went to have a look in the city; also went to the famous elephant nose hill with lot of elephants playing around there 😋 (ofcourse dummies they are). So next time, try something different like a home stay and relax !! #qingmingtravel #urbanexplorer #urbanexplorer#qingmingtravel#lightthecity

MuTianYu Great Wall

Rather than hiking and being touristy, 长城 (Great Wall) can also be fun. And the Mutianyu section gave exactly that to us. So this time we decided to take on a jolly ride than stretching too much. To go up the Great Wall we took the rope car, and what's fun in it is; not a closed one. Also when we are about to board the rope car, it doesn't stop and take the passengers; it keeps moving on. You have to jump into it and soon after that, it takes flight to the top of Great Wall haha. On the top, we went to the sightseeing lens that let you see for 10¥/min. Later on our way down, we took the Toboggan ride which is the super fun part of it. Yes, all you have is a lever that let you control the brake; otherwise it's a gravitational slide 😂 Also in Mutianyu you have the helicopter ride, which is a bit expensive (obviously); but worth it for once in a lifetime flying over the Great Wall. The day 2 we embarked on a spiritual journey, that led us to the Lama temple and the Confucius temple. It felt so divine in the morning and as it is early spring; the birds and freshly grown leaves in the trees gave a different level of experience. As always in Beijing, the last day of the trip is food exploration (including Peking duck) and we did some shopping in the Wangfujing street. In the evening we went to a Russian ballet show, and as always magical. #qingmingtravel #urbanexplorer #greatwall #urbanexplorer#qingmingtravel#lightthecity

West Street

With the digitization and online payment taking over all of China, there's hardly a need to use the bank notes. But have you ever looked at the back of 20 yuan bank note and wondered where is this paradise on Earth ?! Yes, here it is; taken at the Yangtze river with all those volcano-like mountains surrounding them. Yes the first time when I visited Guilin these little mounts popped up all over here look like a dormant volcano 🌋 But thankfully they aren't. On day 1 we arrived at Guilin and after an amazing breakfast went over to see this natural beauty in the bamboo rafting. With less water and force, it was really soothing to have a look around these mountains. And then we went on for a little cycling around the farms there. Later went for a relaxed dinner in the very famous West street, where the variety of food and restaurants are immense. On day 2, we took the cruise ship that'll take you around 5 hours amidst these little mounts and you can get to see the 20 rupees backside picture in here. Don't forget to take one with you haha. In the evening, we went to one of the best opera in China Liu San Jie show, where nearly 500 artists perform in the Yangtze river. The memories are still fresh, that's one of the best live performances I have ever seen. Day 3, went to the nearby village where they're locals and get to know about their tradition, food and even the song & dance. This maybe bit secluded, but it's easily findable as well. Don't miss to eat the famous Beer fish in Guilin haha, yes it's cooked in beer and it has quite a flavor. It will be a trip to remember forever !! #qingmingtravel #urbanexplorer #guilintravel #chinaexplore #urbanexplorer#qingmingtravel#lightthecity

The Palace Museum

The must see one, or to say as the place that can't be missed in your bucket list when you go to Beijing is 故宫 (Forbidden palace). As the name goes, it was really forbidden for a long time for commoners; as it's supposed to be protective place for the king and his family. And the architecture represents the early Ming dynasty and few other subsequent kingdoms have made changes. It's really that even a day won't be enough I would say, so on Day 1 have a look at the 天安门广场 (Tiananmen Square) and cover up part of the palace. There's also a VR place inside the palace where they take on a virtual journey about the palace. First day upto the Earth tower will be great. Yes, different towers represent Fire, Sky, Water, Turtle, Phoenix (sort of), Earth. The following day, cover up the rest of the palace and go to the park just behind the palace where you can get the view as in this picture. And most importantly don't forget to go around the 故宫 in the evening with all those glitters. There are a series of buildings that are built in straight line across the city, extending upto the Bell and Drum tower. On day 3, get immersed in the modern Beijing by visiting the CCTV headquarters, China world trade center tower III building and enjoy the Northern food. It'll be a perfect mix of ancient and modern. #qingmingtravel #urbanexplorer #beijingtravel #urbanexplorer#qingmingtravel#lightthecity
