The Bricklayer's Arms

Made a flying visit to Putney for a long-awaited return to the Bricklayers Arms – the best proper pub in the town by a long way. The building was constructed in 1826 and it’s an independent free house. Like a lot of places, it’s had a bit of an upgrade over the years since I last visited. The décor has upgraded a bit but the tables are all in the same place that I remember them which is comforting. The beer garden has been replaced by a flat, and a new and very pleasant ‘beer terrace’ has been created at the side of the pub.
