Japan Travel: Saga Toriimoto Preserved Street

#wheretogo This town in Kyoto sets you back to the Meiji period where these traditional wooden houses and Machiya still exists in Kyoto throughout these many years. It’s definitely a spot to visit because we love historical landmarks and buildings, it’s truly a magnificent sight to feast our eyes on. We visited the streets in the morning after Arashiyama, it’s just a 20 minutes walk from it. It’s very quiet and peaceful, we saw locals living their daily lifestyles, many local souvenir shops and traditional food to enjoy. There are also many famous shrines around such as Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple, Aorangi Nenbutsuji Temple and more! After many long walks, we visited a local restaurant called Tsure-zure, specialised in traditional food, the elderly Japanese lady is very friendly and recommended us some good options, we got a cold soba, a tofu soup with rice and a Matcha shaved ice. The food is super delicious and she even taught us how to eat the soba, the shaved ice is really great! There are also some local food stores around selling milk yoghurt and Matcha ice cream, It really satisfied our foodie cravings.
