Mufu

Many people know Mufu because of the TV series "Mufu Fengyun." Mufu is the palace of the Mu family, the Naxi chieftain. It has survived the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, and it shows the rise and fall of the great chieftain family in the southwest region. "North is the Forbidden City, south is Mufu." Mufu is equivalent to the "Forbidden City" of Lijiang. Most of the buildings in Mufu today were rebuilt after the 1996 earthquake. Its magnificent buildings, majestic halls, and exquisite carvings all show its luxury and grandeur. Mufu is built against Lion Mountain. On the central axis are the Council Hall, Wanjuan Building, and Hufa Hall, while on both sides are houses, pavilions, and gardens. The archway at the entrance is inscribed with the words "Tian Yu Liu Fang," which is a homonym for "go to study" in Naxi. Climb to the top of Guangbi Building, and you will see the rows of tiled houses in Lijiang Old Town, which are a dark green color that blends with the sky and earth in the breeze and drizzle, like a huge ink painting.
