The Tower of Saint Vincent

#celebratewithtrip Belem Tower is located in Av Brasilia, 1400-038 Lisboa, and open Tuesday to Sunday 1000-1730, close on Monday. Trams: 15 ( stop near Torre de Belem ), is around 750 meters 12 minutes walk from the tram station. Belem Tower is a 16th century fortification that was built from lioz limestone and is composed of a baston and a 30 meters four storey tower. Constructed on the northern bank of the Tagus River, this tower was used to defend the city, later it was transformed into a lighthouse and custom house. The ground floor of this architectural jewel has 16 windows with cannons. The tower has five floors which lead to a roof terrace by a small and narrow spiral staircase, when on the busiest day, you have to wait for your turn to climb up or descend. It was classified as a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO.

Belém Tower

One of the most visited monuments in Lisbon! It was initially built to defend the city, and then has been used as a customs office, as a jail and as a lighthouse. Now, it's just a tourist attraction but the building remain an amazing place to visit and to photograph.
