"Our customers can come into the shop, see someone they know and have a lovely chat, that's what it's all about." Peter Milne opened the doors to Cornershop Coffee on Friday 1st of September 23, after 10 years of working in the brewing industry and brewing coffee as a hobby at home, he decided to take the leap and open his own place. "During the second site visit before we signed the lease, I found the original Victorian sign in the cellar which read,'The Cornershop Purveyors of Fine Wines, Spirits and Tobacco.' As we wanted to create a space for the community to gather, relax and enjoy, we thought it fitting to build and expand on the building's history and use the original name." With quality and simplicity at the heart of Cornershop, Pete tells us that locality is incredibly important, looking to see what is available on their doorstep when searching for suppliers. With Blossom Coffee Roasters for the house espresso, Early Bird Bakes supplying the cookies and pastries, cakes from Mel Makes for vegan treats and ceramics from Pen Y Bont. "It was an intention from the very beginning to create a calming space that aims to focus attention on the coffee experience. We commissioned our natural Birch bar, counters & seating areas from Tim Denton. Emily, our barista has the official title of "Head of Foliage" and has grown most of our plants from cuttings."
